Egypt: Irrigation Minister Announces All-Out Cooperation Strategy With Nile Basin States
9 February 2012
Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hisham Qandeel on Wednesday 8/2/2012 announced a comprehensive strategy for cooperation with other Nile Basin countries.
At a seminar hosted by the Anglican Church in Egypt, Qandeel added that several quarters took part in devising the strategy including national security, foreign affairs, international cooperation, agriculture, trade, education and media experts.
The strategy attests to the fact that cooperation among the Nile Basin countries is being maintained in different sectors, he added.
As for Egypt's talks with the Nile Basin countries on the water file, he added that the River Nile should be a source of cooperation and development, and not of discord and division.
