Description

RAYNET (The Radio Amateurs' Emergency Network) is a UK wide voluntary organisation . The members of RAYNET, mostly radio amateurs, make themselves and their equipment available to assist with additional communications during emergencies. Members train and exercise their skills by providing radio communications for events such as charity bike rides, fun runs, long distance walks, marathons, etc.

The Nidderdale group is one of three within the county of North Yorkshire covering the whole of the Nidd valley, from Harewood in the South, to Ripon/Leyburn/Hawes in the North and from the York boundary in the East to Skipton in the West. This diverse topographical area presents unique communications problems for User Services which we are able to alleviate by using Repeaters/Talk-through units and our technical knowledge of radio.
