Minutes of Glasgow Branch Meeting of Wednesday 17 June held in the Community Central Halls commencing at 8.05 pm.

It was noted that the newsletter and previous minutes had been received by members. Adopted by T.McNeil and R.Reid AGREED

The EC minutes for April had been sent to members so the chairman went through the June minutes. Adopted by T.McNeil and R..Reid AGREED

Some discussion then took place on various resolutions that had been passed and some ideas were aired about possible items for the ADM

The June issue of the Standard was discussed at some length. Comrade Vanni raised the matter of the article "Marx's Contribution to the Critique of Reformism" which he felt was too complex for the understanding of most workers and used jargon that would be incomprehensible to many. He also complained about the article "Understanding history" that used a direct quote from Marx that was almost half the length of the article. The "Simon the Sociobiologist" strip cartoon was criticised as having a punch line that wasn't a punch line and that did not make a socialist point. Comrade Armstrong complained about the article "Not So Honourable Members" that did not make the point that the "tax burden" it referred to was not the concern of the working class. Comrade Reid complained about the article "Predjudice".
