7th International Tango Festival Berlin

taking place from Thursday 25th May to Sunday 28th May (Whit Sunday), 2007.

Every night there will be a Tango ball (Milonga) with live music and
dancing performances. On Whit Sunday there will be in addition a
concert and show in the auditorium of the Deutsches Theater. Our
invited Tango dancers will teach you in 43 workshops of varying
levels. During the day there is a Tango Café for relaxing.

Buenos Aires Blues is a dance workshop June 1-3 in Knoxville TN, devoted to the
fusion of
blues and tango dancing. The goal is to provide dancers with a broad new
vocabulary for
interpreting jazz, blues, and tango music.

Blues and Tango have a lot in common - they're both forms of vernacular music
and dance
with roots in both the European and African traditions.  In both cases, the
music can be
heart-breaking, joyful, and incredibly sensual - possibly all at the same time.
The dances
are fundamentally improvised; the dancers have the freedom to interpret each
song
individually, without reliance on memorized patterns. Because of this, they're
also
incredibly difficult to learn; yet they are all the more rewarding for the
challenges and
freedoms presented.

This workshop is about building something out of the tools from two
already-established
traditions.  That means understanding history: social, musical, and dance.  It
will also
mean expanding musical and dance boundaries.  The  teachers and DJs have a wide
range
of styles and opinions; attendees will be exposed to both traditional and modern
techniques, both traditional and modern music.

The instruction is complete with highly detailed instruction in both
the leader's and follower's role with details on how the dance was
traditionally interpreted. Special detail and emphasis is given to
the lead of the figures as well as the secrets of how to follow them
well and how to best apply them to the social dance situation mixing
in the material with one's own material to create a beautifully
improvisational dance. Filmed in the Viejo Correo milonga in Buenos

We would like to remind some important information for your
consideration;

- One of the festival hotels is full. The others have still rooms,
but filling quickly.

- Single women registrations will be frozen as of 1st of June.

- You may remember that Tango Nuevo Participants (held in April 2007
@ Istanbul ) has 10% discount in case they also participate to our
festival in July. The deadline for this advantage is also 1st of June
