For those interested in a homesteading,back to the land or agrarian lifestyle in Oklahoma. Neighbors from surrounding states are welcome, also. Topics include living a simple self-sufficient lifestyle like our pioneer grandparents had, gardening, raising livestock, food preservation, soap-making, homeschooling, bartering, alternative housing and energy production... Anything related to a back-to-the-land or small farm way of life. Let's meet each other.

Generally speaking, we try to stay off the topics of politics or religion in this group, as most people can't discuss either without the discussion turning nasty. It is our goal, however, that political issues that effect homesteading and self sufficiency can be discussed here without the partisan politics.

This list is several years old and from time to time (not especially often) we've had subjects come up that were controversial. Historically, we've worked our way through the tough times and agreed to disagree, and that is our goal for any future discussions. Differing opinions are part of human nature. What won't be tolerated is attacks on other list members, either personally or generally. Anyone who poses a threat to the stability and sustainability of the list, in the opinion of the moderators, will be put on moderation. This means if your post is derisive, caustic, or otherwise inappropriate (in our opinion) it won't be forwarded to the group. Play nice, or don't play at all.

Please think of NewOkiePioneers as your grandmother's living room. If you get too rowdy, you may be asked to take it out on the porch. We consider this plain good manners. If this means censorship to you; or if endless heated debate is extremely important to you; this may not be the list for you.
