The New England Textile Arts Network was "born" at the "SPA, Knit and Spin" gathering in Portland, Maine, February 2003
Our guiding principle is K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Sweetie).
We are boundary-spanners from all across the many New England guilds and associations with two common passions: we love to work with fiber and we love to learn from and teach each other.
This is a EWEnique group of New England Knitters, Spinners, Spindlers, Weavers, Dyers, Lacemakers, Quilters, Felters, Rug Braiders, keepers of Bunnies, Goats, Alpacas, Llamas and SHEEP, Yarn Shop Owners, people who CROCHET and Tat and Hook, and people who are BRAND NEW to it all and want to LEARN.
NETA supports The Ships Project. We’ve sent hundreds of socks slippers and hats to deployed troops and to date we have raised more than $9,079.73 to help with postage to send items to deployed troops. This is not a political topic for us and we do not invite (or welcome) political distractions from our goal. The goal: to comfort our friends and family members “over there,” in harm’s way.
The SEVENTH ANNUAL "Spa, Knit and Spin" will be back in FREEPORT, Maine in February, 2009. This online group is the ONLY place where information is shared each year when location and guest room rates are settled, and when vendors can apply for spaces so check back here for details.
If you want to just visit when the vendors are set up that SATURDAY, that's great. NO REGISTRATION NECESSARY and there is NO CHARGE to attend. Come when you can, leave when you must. This is a mommie's day away from kids.
