The New England Textile Arts Network was "born" at the "SPA, Knit and Spin" gathering in Portland, Maine, February 2003
Our guiding principle is K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Sweetie).
We are boundary-spanners from all across the many New England guilds and associations with two common passions: we love to work with fiber and textiles and we enjoy sharing what we know. We're different from other "groups" in that we have no profit motive; no organization to support financially. Just jump in and teach someone or learn something about textile arts - or both.
This is a EWEnique group of New England Knitters, Spinners, Spindlers, Weavers, Dyers, Lacemakers, Quilters, Felters, Rug Braiders, keepers of Bunnies, Goats, Alpacas, Llamas and SHEEP, Yarn Shop Owners, spinning wheel makers, button designers, mini-millers, people who CROCHET and Tat and Hook, and people who are BRAND NEW to it all and want to LEARN.
The EIGHTH ANNUAL "Spa, Knit and Spin" will be held February 27, 2010 in Freeport, Maine. Vendors are listed here and on the NETA Fiber Forum Blog http://netafiberforum.blogspot.com .
If you want to just visit when the vendors are set up that SATURDAY, that's great. NO REGISTRATION NECESSARY and there is NO CHARGE to attend. Come when you can, leave when you must. This is a mommie's day away from kids.
Many NETA members also spin and knit to raise funds for efforts that support deployed troops. Ask how you can participate!
