San Francisco, CA April 5, 2006 As the sustainability movement continues
to gain momentum so does the need to understand the language used by
practitioners of this green revolution. Responding to the need for an
accurate go-to reference source for definitions of the terms of
sustainability, the enterprising Class of 2006 MBA students at Presidio
School of Management compiled the first Dictionary of Sustainable
Management, now available online. San Francisco-based Presidio offers an
innovative MBA program in Sustainable Management that integrates
environmental, ethical and socially responsible concerns into every
course.
This is an open dictionary of sustainability and business-related terms
geared towards businesspeople and students, said Nathan Shedroff, Presidio
student who created the idea and helped launch the project with Corina
Beczner, Bob Gower, Ruth Katz, and Nick Aster who brought the dictionary
to life online. The purpose of our effort is to help people better
understand how sustainability concepts are creating new understandings in
the worlds of business, government and society.
This first-of-its-kind dictionary is available at
http://www.sustainabilitydictionary.com
and features 279 must-know terms of sustainable business. Created as a
labor of love with contributions from Presidio faculty, staff, students
and business leaders in sustainability, the new-school dictionary is
designed as a tool for anyone interested in understanding the business of
sustainable management. There is no fee to use the online reference guide,
which is not yet available in print.
