Women’s Rights Day Celebration

No more singing capitalism's blues…
Sisters, it's time to fight!

with special guest speaker

Anne Slater, Radical Women firebrand & National Organizer

Slater is on a national speaking tour, mobilizing women and their allies to stand against rightwing racism, layoffs and state budget cuts. She is a member of Queer Ally Coalition, a longtime abortion clinic defender and led a community college unionization drive. She recently helped to launch Seattle’s grassroots group Sisters Organize for Survival.

A Sizzling Barbecue Buffet will be served at 6:00pm. Dinner donation is $9 and door donation is $3 (sliding scale and work exchanges available for strikers and low income). Proceeds will benefit the $45,000 Radical Women Fund Drive.

The event will be held at Freedom Hall, 113 West 128th St., in Harlem (take Subways 2 or 3 to 125th St). .

Radical Women meeting featuring the topic:
Rightwing violence: What’s behind it and how can we fight it?
The murder of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller; the white supremacist shooting in the Holocaust Memorial Museum; the beating of two Black lesbians in Brooklyn; the killing of immigrants in Long Island. Are these isolated incidents? Or manifestations of a growing rightwing backlash spurred by the economic crisis? Come talk about how we can build a united movement to stop ultra-right violence.

A summer salads buffet will be served at 7:00pm for an $8.00 donation. Admission is  free and  childcare will be provided. Everyone is welcome!  The meeting will be held at Freedom Hall, 113 West 128th St., Harlem (between Malcolm X Blvd./Lenox Ave. and 7th Ave., subways #2 or 3 to 125th St.).
