Dear friends,
many thanks to all of you who have already responded to the ITF's call last night by sending your protest to the Iranian government.
We are now informed that Ebrahim Madadi was summoned to the Revolutionary Court this morning where his sentence (3.5 years) was reinstated.
He was transferred to Section 209 of the Evin Prison immediately.
In addition to the Protest Statement that we released last night, the ITF has now set-up its Online Protest page as follows.
We ask you to;-
a. Visit this site and send your protest message to the Iranian government as soon as possible.
b. Can you also contact the Iranian Embassy (Mission) in your country and raise your protest?
*** When you have taken these actions, please report it to the ITF so that we can keep a list of actions taken.
c. Forward this information as widely as possible, as relevant and appropriate.
d. Post this information on your web page/blog.
e. Contact media and politicians (MPs).
What else can we do? We welcome your suggestions.
It is blatantly obvious that the Iranian regime is using this Christmas to New Year period to oppress the independent workers' movement.
As a colleague from the British TUC correctly cited on their blog (http://www.strongerunions.org/), they are hoping that we can't protest because we are on holiday.
That is why it is very important that we start reacting now.
Visiting our webpage and click your protest will only take five minutes.
Or you can email/fax the attached statement instead.
We thank your support in advance.
Yours in solidarity
Mac Urata
