As food prices soar and hunger riots rage from one country to another across the globe, the people and government of Venezuela are working proactively to address the food needs of themselves and their neighbors.  Recent actions include creating a new agricultural fund to bolster Venezuela’s food production capacity; donating of 364 tons of food aid to Haiti; and initiating an emergency summit of Latin American leaders in response to the current food crisis.  Come learn more at an evening discussion:

Opening remarks on the World Food Crisis will be given by Christina Schiavoni,
Co-Director of the Global Movements Program at WHY (World Hunger Year)
 
Additional reflections will be shared by delegates of a recent delegation to Venezuela
focused on food sovereignty.
