The Natural Lands Network (NLN) was started at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association in the fall of 1998. Our mission is to help balance decisions regarding the use of land to highlight preservation and to emphasize the environmental aspects of development. We bring together a network of organizations that are committed to preserve open space, farmland, and natural resources.
The NLN meets every other month at the Watershed Reserve with three objectives:
Education - to present to members a short and informative summary of a topic that is significant to land preservation and environmental protection.
Network - to allow members to seek advice and counsel about specific issues, obstacles or opportunities.
Advocacy - to function as a forum for issues interest to members, either local issues that deserve regional or state-wide attention, or regional or state issues that need local attention.
