This site was created to make you aware of dangerous intersetions (Black Spot) in NY City. With this knowledge you can prevent your vehicle from getting into an automobile accident by knowing the intersection where there is a high potential for red light running. These intersections are also equiped with a red light camera to catch those who run a red light. By knowing the location of these cameras you can avoid getting into an accident. A driver who runs a red light at one of these locations will also receive a summons in the mail.

When you join this mailing list you will receive updates to the locations of red light cameras (RLC).

For users of GPS Navigation system go http://n2bqf.org/rlc.htm to add these locations as a Point Of Interest, (POI).

If you should see or know of a location with a red light camera (RLC) that is NOT on this list please let me know. If you don't know what a Red Light Camera looks like go to the PHOTOS section to see the many types.

In the year of 2000, the NY State Assembly approved 50 Red light cameras. Then again in 2004 the NYS Assembly approved another 50 RLC. The other cameras listed are dummies, they will flash but they do not take pictures and no ticket will be mailed.

The city is looking to install speed trap cameras in the near future, so watch your speed before you pass one.

A link to this RLC list will be sent to you when it is updated. This mailing list is low volume, one to six emails a month. If you send in a valid RLC location you will receive an updated listing from me otherwise individual updates are noted here

FACT: In the US, RLC have been shown to reduce the frequency of crashes with injuries at the intersections at which they are installed by an average of 29%.
