The Western Region of the National Speleological Society promotes cave conservation, the scientific study of caves, and speleoeducation. It hosts an annual business meeting in the fall and sponsors regional seminars. The region publishes the California Caver. Group membership is by invitation of an existing member or internal organization of the NSS.
