This is the Native Prairies Association of Texas (NPAT) announcement email list.
This email list is a moderated, low traffic mailing list for announcements of NPAT and prairie related field trips, conferences, meetings, and volunteer opportunities.
NPAT is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and appreciation of native prairies, savannas, and other grasslands in Texas and throughout the United States.
As a land trust, NPAT protects over 1200 acres of original and restored Texas prairie, including over 100 acres of imperiled tallgrass prairie.
The tallgrass prairie is the most endangered large ecosystem in North America (less than 1% remains overall), and even less remains of the original 20 million acres of Texas' beautiful tallgrass prairies (the Blackland Prairies, Coastal Prairies, and Grand Prairie).
Texas is a diverse prairie state, including the tallgrass prairies of the Blackland Prairies, Coastal Prairies, and Cross Timbers and Prairies, the savannas of the Edwards Plateau/Hill Country and Post Oak Savanna, the mixed grass prairies of the Rolling Plains, the short grass prairies of the High Plains/Panhandle, and the desert grasslands of the Trans-Pecos.
