All my aviation friends are invited to see the airport in Christmas lights in my
backyard on either Saturday Dec 19 or Sunday Dec 20 after 5:30 pm.
Feel free to pass this on to anyone who may be interested, and feel free to
bring guests as well. ! I don't light it every night, because my electric bill
would be sky high, but these 2 nights I will have it all lit. Complete with VOR
and ILS! Come one come all! Facebook only allows a certain number of people
included in this message, so again, feel free to invite anyone who would be
interested.
My address is 6700 Schreiner St E, Worthington. It is easy to get to. Mapquest
it, or use google maps.
Any questions? message me back or call me at 578-4696

I attended the Worthington City Council meeting last Monday Night and
listened to 8 residents oppose the OSU Airport's FAA part 150 Noise Study.
They said about everything including "the study was so seriously flawed that
we need to start over again and do it right" or "the University needs to
live up to its commitment to be a good neighbor and ban the noisy
airplanes".
I thank the many of you that have already sent in your comments, but there
is still time, until Friday night, if you still wish to add your voice to
the process. The anti-airport people are pulling out all the stops to get
their way.
Here are 2 sample letters. Please edit or write your own and please add
your NAME and ADDRESS at the end.

I would like to take this opportunity to pass along in writing my
appreciation for how the FAA Part 150 Study process has been handled by the
team. Your personal efforts at facilitating the meetings, keeping an
effective eye on the clock and everyone focused on relevant issues was
noteworthy. And as I mentioned at the conclusion of the committee meeting
this week, RS&H did a masterful job of working with the diverse stakeholder
groups, some of which had equally divergent views about the airport, its
operations, and possible plans for expansion.
Issues surrounding all aspects of OSU's flight operations affect folks
differently, and I would like to pass along sincerest compliments to Steve
Alverson of the RS&H team, as he fielded every fly ball with great
competence. He took significant time to listen, even when emotions crept
into the discussion with outright scolding by some, and he never failed to
respond respectfully, with solid, to-the-point answers, and many times
effectively address a misconception of the process. The result was that all
participants, regardless of viewpoint, came away feeling as though he or she
had been listened to and was considered a valuable part of the ongoing work.
In this day of pitifully lacking civility in public discourse, Steve set the
best example I've seen in a long time for how handle delicate, potentially
incendiary issues, and end up with a positive outcome.
As a result of the hard work by all, the respectful presentation of results
and fielding of appropriate questions, I believe the study moves forward
with both weight and merit.
Best regards,

Thank you, Marie, and the RS&H team,
I was impressed with the FAA Part 150 Study process for OSU Airport that you
conducted. You took significant time to listen carefully to questions and
respond respectfully even when emotions ran high.
I believe that all attendees, regardless of their position regarding the
airport improvements, felt that they had been listened to.
The information displays were large and easily readable, and there was
opportunity to talk with specialists about the content displayed.
As a nearby resident to the airport, I believe that the airport is a good
neighbor.
Great job,
Regards,

We have concluded our season.
Our last event was held at the Union County Airport October 17.
Ground support consisted of Don Morgan, Dwight Brandt, Alan Edmonds, Debbie
Doucette, and Eric Watkins. THANK YOU!
Pilots were, with the numbers flown:
Rick Hunt 8
Wayne Williams 6
Jerry Isbell 6
Jann Bowne 12
THANK YOU!
FOR THE SEASON:
We were able to fly 396 youth. That's a good accomplishment for all of
general aviation. Those youth now have a better view of general aviation,
whether it be a memorable experience, an introduction to an avocation, or
the first step in a career. Some may note that this number is somewhat lower
than last year. Let's attribute it to unfavorable weather at the start of
the season and the need to relocate some of our events. The lower number is
a plus in the sense that the youth and their families were able to spend
more time talking with the pilots and the support staff. That too is a
valuable part of the learning experience. Also there is more time for the
camaraderie between the pilots and staff. We do have fun at our events. Ask
those who participate.
If you haven't turned out for a Young Eagles Rally hosted by EAA9 Inc. you
may not know that our young participants are treated to a certificate
commemorating their flight, an 8.5 X 11 photo of the riders and pilot
standing by the plane, a logbook, and a coupon for Sporty's on line private
pilot course.
What makes this all possible?
First is the pilots who donate their time and skills and the use of their
airplane. This past season we were pleased to have support in this category
from:
Rick Hunt
Wayne Williams
Jerry Isbell
Jann Bowne
John Wilson
Dick Wetherald
Roger Brown
Rich Mercurio
Steve England
Bob Lewis
Dick Young
Ted Kellogg
Lenny Mack
Christine Mortine
Kenny Harding
Jeff Beachy
THANK YOU!
Second are the people who provide ground support. This past season those who
signed in include the following:
Don Morgan
Dwight Brandt
Alan Edmonds
Debbie Doucette
Eric Watkins
Bob Delaney
Jon Delaney
Melinda Baccus
Andrew Hale
Robin O'Donnell
Marti Worth
Ann Thornton
Marjorie Anderson
Jeff Beachy
Renee Leffler
Tim Hansen
Dick Wetherald
And more that did not leave their names.
THANK YOU!
Third are those who permitted us to use their facilities, and their staff to
assist us:
The OSU Airport
The Union County Airport
The Madison County Airport
The Delaware County Airport
The Columbus Port Authority, Bolton Field
JP's Barbeque
VAA chapter 27
THANK YOU!
Forth is EAA chapter 9 for as our sponsor and the financial support for
various expenses, and Sporty's for the logbooks and course coupons.
THANK YOU!
NEXT YEAR we are looking forward to another great season. This all volunteer
activity of those who share their love of flying is completely dependent on
your help, both on the ground and as pilots. Pilots need be FAR compliant
and, for insurance requirements, members of the EAA and carry $100,000 per
passenger seat of liability insurance. Please plan on joining with us in
making this great program possible. We do have enough fun to go around.
