CCMA is a participating chapter of NOAH and fully supports its mission. In addition to the existing mission of NOAH, "To provide information and support to individuals, and families with albinism and hypopigmentation, provide community outreach, enhance public awareness and educate professionals about these conditions, and encourage research and funding of projects that will improve the diagnosis and management of albinism." The mission of CCMA is as follows: CCMA will proide an accepting environment for minorities with albinism in the Greater Chicagoland area. It is our goal to bring together persons who are isolated to inform them about issues related to their ethnicity and the condition of albinism in order to bring about empowerment and a sense of community for all minorities or relative(s) of persons with albinism. Further, CCMA will serve as a local support group whereby members can share, vent, and inform one another about their social experiences, encounters, and barriers in assimilating with the general population, as well as improve their quality of life through encouragement and celebration of life accomplishments, career endeavors, and academic pursuits.
