Welcome to the NLD-In-Common home page! From our May 1999 beginnings, our cyberfamily has rejoiced in the many triumphs of our loved ones as well as adults affected with nonverbal learning disabilities and related conditions such as Asperger's Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, and 20 others. One of our mottoes is "If you've seen one person with NLD, you've seen one person with NLD."
We also address the multiple areas of functioning where individuals with NLD experience difficulty. Some are unique to NLD and other higher-functioning developmental disorders. However, many challenges are those that neurotypicals also face at some point in their lives.
In any event, we aim to create a supportive online environment for those dealing with NLD on an ongoing basis. In addition, the group's archives are private and truly accessible only by current subscribers/members.
We're open to family members of individuals (any age) with NLD along with teens (age 13+) and adults who have NLD. Certain professionals are also welcome. This list is restricted, and we do require posts of introduction to join. (EFFECTIVE 25 Feb 08: If you have a Grouply e-mail address, you will be automatically declined. You must unsubscribe from Grouply before we can consider you for the NLD-In-Common...and remain unsubscribed if accepted.) Follow the instructions in the group's letter to prospective subscribers.
