We strive to provide resources, education, support and camaraderie for parents who wish to make conscious, compassionate, and informed choices for themselves and their families.
Our families are typically interested in natural living issues such as holistic health care, natural birth, attachment parenting, alternative schooling, organic foods, environmentally conscious living, etc. Some of us have been on our natural living journey for many years, while others are just starting out and are seeking information and support in their new endeavors.
The intention of Natural Families of Kalamazoo is to create a network for us, both online and in person. Though we aren't currently meeting monthly, we do hope to plan gatherings throughout the year through communication on this group list. Of course, group members are welcomed and encouraged to get together whenever the desire strikes them, and this yahoo group is a great way to stay connected.
Our facilitator, Kristi Beebe, was inspired to start this group by an organization called Families for Natural Living (www.familiesfornaturalliving.org). Though we are no longer officially affiliated with this organization, we do encourage a donation to the them for their nationwide efforts to help groups like ours get started all over the country.
"Heart-Centered Parenting" is a phrase trademarked by Families for Natural Living to explain that holistic living begins with cultivating a heart-centered awareness that is not parent-, child-, expert-, or culture-centered. FNL advocates parents making holistic choices for the benefit of themselves first, then their families, communities and planet. This description seems to fit our group very well. It's the ripple effect starting with ourselves, and we may never know how many ripples each of us will create through this group!
Let's get connected!
