John,
I had similar problems with my Kenwood. I had erratic performance.
However, I had the stop bits for the radio communications port set
wrong. I think I had 2 instead of one. You should verify that your
radio comm port settings, speed, and stop bits match N1MM.

Unfortunately, it does not work this way on an FT1000MP.. I started the
program with the main (left) vfo on 28.500 and the sub (right) vfo on
21.200. The very first RIGHT click on the 20 metre button in the
"available" window caused the main vfo to change to 20 metres and the right
vfo to change to 10 metres.
A subsequent LEFT click on the 40 metre button caused the left vfp to change
to 10 metres and the right vfo to change to 40 metres...

Isn't this what is supposed to happen already ??? left click, left radio
(or main vfo, usually the active radio...) if not, then yes please.....
John - vk4cej
That's a feature!
Don't all programmers call bugs features? Well this
one really is a feature, but I can see how it might not be what
you want. The "feature" is there for people using
sound cards as dvk's. You don't want stuff coming out
of the sound card without a function key being pressed.
It also prevents the audio from the radio feeding back
into the mic, when recording.
There is a config option to set the volume level to a
constant value (just master as I recall). This is the
value it will be sent to when the dvk is operated.
Is this a general use problem, or a contest-related
problem? I.e. this doesn't need to be fixed for
ARRL, does it?

Button background colors used:
Pink - A new multiplier on this band!
Turquoise - New contact on this band.
Black - Dupe, you already worked this one.
These colors for the BUTTONS, refer to whether
the station in the callsign pane of the entry window
is mult, new contact or dupe on each band.
The numbers refer to how many mults and non-
dupe q's are available on each band. Red
indicates the band with the most mults or q's.
I.e. which band is your best candidate when you
want to do a band change.

Ok, I put it in there. I don't like it, and it's probably
coming out. Try shift-F12, and see how it works.
What I think is really needed is maybe 3-5 frequencies,
that are smart. I.e. they know which radio you were on.
The one I ****Temporarily**** implememented just
keeps track of the last frequency. If you jumped radios,
then when you press f12, you will GO TO THE OLD FREQUENCY
ON THE NEW RADIO.
Please understand that this is a hack, just to get an understanding
of the requirements. I won't have time to make it "wonderful" for
ARRL CW.
It'll be in 1.1.43.

Left/Right click is very powerful and is very useful for keeping both
VFO's productive in a contest. I think this one needs bearing out in
real live contest mode before getting the hang of its usefulness. I
also need a tutorial on the color scheme as was posted earlier. I flat

Hi Tom,
Thanks for 1.42, great stuff.
Just a quicky.
When I click on something to QSY the rig to the spot or frequency,
is there a quick way to get the prevoius frequency back again. If not
this is always a useful facility.

Hi Tom, the left/right click in the Available box seem logical to me.
However (you knew this was coming...) The color scheme on the buttons still
has not sunk in. I think this needs more explanation in the help - or I'm
particularly dense.
With the count of Mults and Qs listed for each band, I don't see the need
for the color scheme on the buttons. I sense the colors relate to the
specific station being worked but how? Needed on other bands maybe?
Off to play with 1.42 some more!

Version 1.1.42 is in the usual place.
Please do not post the location in this
group. I'm still trying to keep track
of who has it.
The multiplier code is brand new. I8NHJ,
Max made me do it. I had been meaning to,
but never got around to it. Let's see if we
can get it reliable by ARRL. Note that if
it's set to all bands, your radio's band does not
change the display. Otherwise the band
follows the active radio. I also made the
window a little smaller.
73,
Tom - N1MM
The fixes in this one are:
Version 1.1.42 (Started February 12, 2001)
Made multiplier window non-modal (I8NHJ).
Added setmode back to Icom support (won't improve reported a/b bug).
Version 1.1.41 (Started February 11, 2001)
Tightened edit rules in Edit Contact window substantially (PA3CEF).
Made first pass at enabling PTT for CW window - doesn't delay & drops
too quickly. (PA3CEF).
"Hacked" at Icom support to speed it up a bit. Watch for wrong modes.
Capture frequency for log when spot is double-clicked. (N2BC).
Version 1.1.40 (Started February 10, 2001)
Improved operation of NoRadio support on split frequencies.
Double-click on CQ-Frequency would enter it as callsign (N2BC).
NT/2000 Esc was not stopping a wav file from playing (N2BC).
Correct strange vfo behavior after using config dialog (N2BC).
Don't remember numeric exchanges in PACC Contest (PA3CEF).
Disable Auto PTT was not working for second vfo (N2BC).
Well, I was trying to be really clever here. I went to
a lot of trouble to make it work like this:
Left click tunes the left radio, right click tunes the right radio.
I even went to the trouble of making it work that way with
left handed mice!
Nobody seems to like it, so I'm going to sulk for a while.
Not really. How should it work? Normal click (left for
right handed mouse) should tune ACTIVE radio and opposite
(usually right) click should tune INACTIVE radio?

Like I said, Icom support is still buggy. I'll take a
look at it and see if I can kill the one you described.
The mult's & Q's colors have meaning -- look in
the help. They are there to tell you whether you
need this station on other bands.

I'm afraid I'm in Jose's camp on this one Jim.
It's probably not a lot of code, but there are also
probably not a lot of users that have both
N1MM Logger & the custom Geoclock program.
Like Jose implied, we need to stay focused on
the knitting here -- contesting and features that
support contesting.
But don't stop the ideas!

Hello Joe.. I have reported (directly to Tom) several strange behaviours
that the bans buttons do in this window. If you look carefully, you will
see that the first few clicks actually transpose the two vfo's and it
gradually gets worse.. there is a problem with the 1000mp code here for
sure.

Hi Jim and all others...
You have a good idea. But...
N1MMlogger is a contest program, and running a contest I don't see any help
with this.
It looks like a women perfume ( You like it but don't use it ) hihi

This is happening intermitantly. Sometimes the program loses
communication with VFO B only. The buttons in the Mult's and Q's
windows turn red sometimes too.
I'd like to add that I'm enjoying the program, some of the features
are too cool...

I am trying to interest Joe Ahlgren, developer of Geoclock to permit an
API or programming interface into MAP9009 of Geoclock which is the map
centered on your own QTH. All it needs is a call sign. It has its own

If you have come across this discussion group and are
wondering how to download the software being discussed,
send an email to me, N1MM at:
tomwagner@...
and I will send you a link which will tell you how to
download the program.
Why don't we have it set up to download without sending
me the email? This program is undergoing rapid development.
Thus the install procedures are not as simple as I might
like. Also, I like to have a list of users in case there is a
serious bug that they would need to be notified about. This
approach let's me issue 2+ versions per week.

Well, I uploaded a file to this group, but I'm not sure how anyone
gets it yet!! Let me know if you are successful. I have uploaded a
.htm file that is the key assignments for the N1MM logger. I had mine
laminated (Office depot $1.) until I know them "by heart". The
document can be read by anything reading an HTM file like MS Word. It
is in landscape format that should find a home near your PC!
