The Mounds Historical Society, Mounds, Creek County, Oklahoma meets every first Thursday at the Mounds Christian Church. Meetings start at 7:00 PM.
Our goal is to preserve the history of this area through a history book, programs, collecting artifacts, recording data, preserving oral history, and a museum. We welcome area organizations to post meeting dates, times, and events.
This is not a place for blogging about negative ideas or complaints; but a informational site about the Society,its works, and our community. We will try to answer questions and give assistance to those seeking information about the town and its early inhabitants in a timely manner.
PROJECTS:
"Mounds, Oklahoma - The Town That Moved Twice" a 160 page history book about the history of Mounds and it's businesses, homes, people, and organizations is now on sale. The book is hardbacked and chocked full of stories and pictures. It sells for $55.00 plus $6.50 for shipping. "Historically Delicious" a cookbook should be available for purchase by early Spring.
Museum: The photo is of the old Bank of Mounds building. This is the future home of the Mounds Historical Society Museum. Work parties have already started on the project.
