Marjorie –
These topics may fall outside the scope of your course, but
I’d suggest some public service presentations on interpretation of the
information that considers more issues with experimental design, like:
Correlation/causation
Controls
Repetition of studies
Alternative, complementary hypotheses
Cramer

Subject: [Monmouthtowngown] Statistical Thinking
Hi All,
I listed possible projects for my
Statistical Thinking Citizenship course on the website. In case you missed it,
the list is given below. Do not expect complex data analyses from the
students. These students are not statisticians, but they should be able
to do simple analyses.
In the course, the students will be
preparing “Public Service Presentations” on statistical issues – such as “what
does statistical significance mean”, “how are unemployment rates figured”,
“what exactly is the margin of error”, “Beware misleading graphs”, etc.
If you have a topic in mind, let me know. We will post the time and place
for our Public Service Presentations on the listserve.
If you have questions, please contact me.
Thanks,
Marjorie Bond
