Sear carries a small digital level that I use on my Garden Railroad and it has many built in tools. It even has a thermometer in case you want to know how cold or warm it might be while you are working.

Subject: [Model_Railroads_Of_Southern_California] Grade measuring tool?
Do you have a tool you use for measuring grades? Have you made your own? I have seen many items at hardware stores and hobby catalogs that measure angles based on a 360 degree circle, but have yet to see one that measures actual grades as used on railroads or 'model railroads'. I'm looking for something like a level that could be digital or an adjustable spirit level that is not so long, and still be handy placed on a layout or easy to use during layout construction.
Sure, I could do the math and figure things out that way, but I'm just looking for something that I can put on top of the roadbed and say "Hey look that's a three percent grade". Or at the very least, adjust the gauge to 3 percent and see that the grade is what you set the level to.
