Every Church A Peace Church (ECAPC) is a national network of
Christians and churches committed to the premise that the church
could turn the world toward peace if every church lived and
taught as Jesus lived and taught. ECAPC members embrace the
radical nonviolence of Jesus, including his call to love
enemies, his teaching on the futility of violence, his examples
of creative, active, nonviolent resistance, and his faithfulness
to a nonviolent God.
Twin Cities ECAPC seeks to assist and empower church members as
they engage their congregations and the church as a whole in the
important theological and political tasks of nonviolent
peacemaking. Communities and congregations can join the Twin
Cities ECAPC network if they take three concrete steps:
Commitment 1: Engage in serious theological study of the
nonviolence of Jesus. This includes assessing the relevance
and challenge of Jesus nonviolence for our faith communities
theology, worship, and action.
Commitment 2: Participate in a community of accountability for
study, mutual support, and action. Twin Cities ECAPC is not an
individual membership group but rather a network of small
communities.
Commitment 3: Participate in an ongoing process of reflection
and concrete nonviolent actions for peace.
Twin Cities ECAPC seeks to help small groups or communities take
these steps. We will also help congregations who are interested
in formally declaring themselves peace churches in the tradition
of the nonviolence of Jesus.
