It has been two years since the end of the War of the Ring and Middle-Earth is slowly healing under the capable hands of the new kings. The pillars of the third age and many others have left for Aman, but peace is not to last. When a council is called to crush recent Orc raids the great Samwise Gamgee and Queen Arwen herself are kidnapped under the very noses of the council. The culprit? A twisted former prodigy of Sauron’s named Gortheb who once betrayed his master and was consequently imprisoned by the power of the Ring. When the One was destroyed, so was his prison, and Gortheb the Terrible quickly took to the former lands of the Dark Lord. He has now set his eyes on the lands of Endor and aided by the Eryae’Mori his agenda bears one goal: the annihilation of everything beautiful.

The broken Easterling tribes of Rhûn have been fighting to recover what strength and power they possessed under their god of war, Sauron. The bitter defeat at the hands of the West had sent them reeling towards oblivion. Yet an agent of Sauron managed to reunite a significant number of Easterling tribes, giving rise to the Wainrider Confederacy. The emergence of the power known as Gortheb has sparked a revival of Sauron's cult: the Crimson Order. They believe he is an incarnation of Sauron himself. A small expeditionary force has been sent into the West to determine the truth of Sauron's fate; a truth that could ignite the East, and lead to a bitter contest to control all the Hither Lands.
