You might be interested in seeing this felt patch. It says "Cornhusker Camper"
ON the patch. With it is a top segment which says "Camp Cedars". I have not seen
this patch before.

I am guessing the roundish patch was issued by Cornhusker Council (Lincoln) and
the segments were for those who attended Camp Cedars back in the days before the
Cornhusker Scout Reservation (at Humboldt, NE). At that time, Cornhusker
Council's camp was the pretty-small Camp Miniscuya, on the southwest side of
Lincoln. It's now a part of Lincoln's Wilderness Park, but some of the old
buildings are still in use for day-camp activities sponsored by Lincoln Parks &
Recreation.
If any of you group members with a firmer connection to Cornhusker Council than
I have know something about this patch, please respond to the group.
Thanks,
Larry
Of interest to those of you who know Jim Hall, former Camp Cedars Ranger: Jim is
in severe end-state renal failure. His family reports the time is near.
Within the next two weeks we expect to have complete details and schedule of
events available, but to better coordinate with the schedule of Camp Cedars and
the CWSR, and to avoid Father's Day, the 2010 Staff Reunion dates have been
changed to:
Fri, Jun 25 - Sat, June 26 - Sun, June 27, 2010.
There will be details posted in this group, on our Facebook group
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=87518381042
in the M-A-C "Bugle", and in the rec.scouting.usa newsgroup.
Meanwhile, please share this message with anyone you think might be interested.
There is no doubt YOU know someone whom we don't know (or have contact
information for), so please spread the word.
Thanks,
Larry

Greetings. I just joined this list. I was a camp counselor at Prairie Gold
Area Council camps in the early 1970's. I was a counselor at Prairie Gold camp
at Lake Okoboji, and was a counselor at Thomas Ashford Scout Reservation the
first year(s) it was open. At Thomas Ashford we had to carve out the campsites
and create the trails. Talk about some massive poison ivy blisters! That was
some back breaking work too, since we didn't have much time to get the camp
built.
Does anyone have the address or directions to the old camp by Milford IA/ Lake
Okoboji? I was going to look the camp up on Google Earth, but it has been so
long ago I don't remember the directions and can't spot it from above on Google
Earth.
I still remember the refrain from the camp song after all these years. Prairie
Gold Prairie Gold the camp that I love best etc.
I hear Prairie Gold Area Council went the way of the dinosaurs. Too bad.
