Freon,
Are you planning on doing a fundraiser raffle at Confusion? My friend's
neighbor had 4 old Dr. Who magazines from the early 80;s and one Fan Magazine
called Time Log #7 at her garage sale. I'm only recently Dr. Who fan, so I
didn't want them. I was walking out to the car and then I thought they would
make a good raffle prize, so I bought them. If you don't want to 'raffle' them
off, I'll give them to my nephew to sell on ebay.

Mikey Rudas (boom operator) is ill and Matt (recordist) is on family leave,
which means we will be looking for sound crew to be on hand for the rest of

I am moving this weekend. I'd like to give Chris his Brust books but lack a
means to deliver 'em. We haven't been able to hook up since I've been in MI.

If Chris or a friend of his could stop by, I'll have them on the porch in an old
Priority Mail box: 7327 Voerner Ave [zip 48015].

Box will have Chris' [former?] address taped on it.

Thanks!

The trailer for the film which I have been working on these past 10 months or so
is now out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8EA7EbFX4k

I was "city planner" for one of the principal locations in the film, the city of
Alamut. Some of the city's showcase shots are at 0:18-0:24, 0:51-0:53, 1:01, and
1:42-1:43 in the trailer.

If anyone can find a good link to a downloadable HD version, I would surely
appreciate it.

Cheers,

This list defaults to reply-to-sender. If you reply-to-all and the post doesn't
show up here, it still went to its recipient, but despite your extra effort to
tell us all, for some rational reason the list didn't need it. Advertise and
rant elsewhere or trim your message.

Replying and posting are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Accepted list etiquette includes
not quoting entire digests in reply. Post and reply at your own risk, and be
considerate. Do not be the second person in our history to be banned.

Polls are enabled on this list but keep in mind that the membership predates
Yahoo!Groups and many of them are subscribed via email. Polls ONLY allow votes
from Yahoo members, so keep this in mind while you decide whether to poll at
all!

MichiganFandom has a links page. Feel free to email the moderator to add a link
to your livejournal or myspace, but please DO NOT ask our moderators to add
links to your yuwie or ANY other shared revenue website. Self-promotion is
encouraged, but fishing for hits or referrals isn't promotion, it's
prostitution. Don't post links like this either or you'll be flamed mercilessly
and justifiably ridiculed here for not heeding this monthly warning.

MichiganFandom prohibits the 'No Email' setting on the group. This is for a
number of reasons, not the least of which is that we have to watch our bandwidth
and not burden the list server with the task of sending messages to bouncing
members - who we find by watching which members bounce our messages regularly as
the month goes by.

Additionally we do from time to time have to post list info to all members,
whether they want to see daily traffic or not. Once in a while someone who
ought to unsubscribe does - but only after being reminded in this fashion.
'No Email' defeats both of those purposes, so with our apologies this has been
changed by yours truly to 'Special Notices'. This way, you will get
list-oriented info you need, and we can watch more effectively for dead emails
bouncing back. Special Notices can only be posted by mods and the list owner,
so this small alteration will have a minimal effect on the Michiganfandom
membership.

----
You don't have to send a message to the list to contact the owner or moderators
of the
list. All you must do is send a message to:
           michiganfandom-owner@yahoogroups.com

Here's a bit of help in "managing" your list mail.
A person *does not* have to go to the website to change subscription
preferences,
subscribe, or unsubscribe from any list.

For instance if you want to go to digest, you can send a *blank* email to:

                <michiganfandom-digest@yahoogroups.com>
Where listname = the name of the list you want to change.

BE SURE to respond to **any** query email the list sends out to facilitate
the
change.
If you don't reply to a *subscribe* or an *unsubscribe* command your email
**will not** change. For changing your delivery method from normal mail
{individual
messages} to digest -- or vice-versa -- there is no reply required but you will
get a
notification that the change has been made.
If you're getting "too much" email set yourself to digest mode. It's easy.
Just
send a *blank* email, no subject line, no message to:
           michiganfandom-digest@yahoogroups.com
This will set you to the digest version of the list which will delay your
messages a
bit. Digests go out once a day unless the volume reaches 25. Then YaHoo sends
out
a 25 message digest and then sends the remainder at the "normal" time. Normal
varies
from list to list because of the huge number of lists at Yahoo.

HERE ARE LIST COMMANDS that work on this list.
Individual messages:
michiganfandom-normal@yahoogroups.com

Digests:
michiganfandom-digest@yahoogroups.com

No mail or on vacation:
michiganfandom-nomail@yahoogroups.com ***NOT RECOMMENDED - SEE BELOW***

If you know a list's complete name you or anyone else can
subscribe by sending a blank email to:
michiganfandom-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Unsubscribe:
michiganfandom-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

You MUST reply to the query email
that Yahoo sends you. This keeps others from messing with your subscriptions or
sending you adult lists that you don't want.

We will be doing a 'harem call' costume flash mob audition at Redford Grill
in Redford, Michigan to find candidates for the part of one or two female
(sorry Greg) strip-tease dancers to appear in a horror genre video I am
involved in. All interested parties should come out and say hi to the cast
and crew of SMOKE HOUSE CURSE, a local production which will begin shooting
the first weekend of November for three weekends. Please come dressed for
the part - within all confines of Michigan State Law.

Thankfully it's Halloween. We can get away with this. No professional
photography will be done at the event.

Redford Grill is at 25800 5 Mile Rd, Redford, at the NW corner of
Beech-Daly. It's the usual spot for Mofo Meetups, but this will happen on
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30. The food's cheap so no worries there. Related
discussions are on shcfans@yahoogroups.com; That list is where we'll be
putting up status messages about this and the progress of the video, too.
shcfans-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Please arrive between 7pm and 9pm. If you need to come a little early you
can, just text ahead. 248-250-1646

That's a last-ditch solution; it's like swatting flies with a sledgehammer. The
quality of videos captured that way is SERIOUSLY degraded due to being
twice-compressed. The original compressed video is decoded/decompressed to be
viewed, then re-compressed to save as a file. Since both compressions are
lossy, image quality goes in the dumper. "KeepVid" is a MUCH better solution,
since many video players handle Flash video well, including "IrfanView," "VLC,"
and the "K-Lite" codec family, all free.

If you've got fairly current system, you might give Auto Screen Recorder a
whirl. It's very easy to use and will record anything that's on your screen,
including YouTube vids (and most any other video). It even includes a simple
video editor so you can chop off the unwanted parts. to find out more, got to:

I've got an old Amiga computer to give away to a good home. I think that it's a
model 2000 or 2500. The machine comes with a SCSI CD-ROM, video digitizer
(sorry, it's not the Video Toaster) and a big box of games. It's got a 1.2 GB
SCSI hard drive. The downside is that the keyboard is a bit wonky. Some keys
fail to work quite often.

It's free, so if anyone wants to contact me to take it off my hands just do so
and it's yours.

Thanks,
Tom
