Re: Hap's Cut goes 3D

Looks nice, John. Do you know the angle the sides make with the bottom? I'm
interested in how much stability that kind of flare could add at high angles of
heel.

I did manage to get the bevel on BH16 backwards, but that is an easy fix and it

Posted a few pictures of an idea of using dual rudders and keeping the engine centered. That way if I want to use the boat as a motorboat without the sails the...

It is a good idea. having 50lbs off center and up high on the stern is not so wonderful. Off centering the rudder is awkward to use. Its lots of extra work...

I dont see problems with the concept really, they can probably go a bit closer together in actual size than as modelled too, the outboard and rudders only need...

Nice job working it out on the model like that. Smart. I was imagining before seeing the moke up, that the rudder controll would somehow be centered. Since...

Well, you've hit on most of the disadvantages so maybe here's some advantages. * Redundancy- it you break one rudder you have a built in spare. * Better...

Nice model and picture. Clever, but I do not see a good enough reason to have two rudders. One leeboard works as well as two.....why not one rudder. I...

Good that you showed a model - makes it so much easier to know what you're talking and asking about... I would say JIB has it right - but ask him if he thinks...

Look at Devlin's Litl Coot, he drew up that boat a while back and it uses dual rudders and a motor setup just like you describe. I'm considering using his...

As mentioned previously, I plan to go with the same set-up Gary Blankenship has on his Frolic2. http://www.duckworksbbs.com/plans/jim/frolic2/index.htm ...

Staring at yiour model, I can't help wondering whether it might not be cool to move your motor forward to the bulkhead, with the lower unit extending through...

John, Some things to be considered as well is the location of the mizzen mast and boomkin. Generally it is located on the opposite side of the OB mount. This...
