Israel Defense Forces soldiers arrested a 15-year-old Palestinian boy found to
carrying weapons at the Hawara checkpoint south of Nablus on Thursday.
The youth aroused suspicion of troops, who subsequently found in his
possession a 52-milimeter mortar shell and two knives.
The youth said he was asked to smuggle the bomb through the checkpoint by
members of a Palestinian armed group.
Palestinians in southern Gaza opened fire in the direction of IDF troops. No
injuries or damage was reported from the incident.
IDF troops arrested two wanted Palestinian women in the West Bank city of
Jenin early Thursday. The two are suspected of having volunteered to carry out
a terror attack, Israel Radio reported.
Troops also arrested eight additional Palestinian suspects in the West Bank
overnight, Army Radio reported.
Before dawn Thursday, Palestinian gunmen opened fire on an IDF outpost near
the West Bank city of Nablus. There were no casualties, Israel Radio said.
On Wednesday night, a military jeep came under fire near the village of
Anabta, close to Tul Karm in the West Bank.
A few bullets hit the vehicle and caused damage, but the attack ended without
casualties.
