Two Israeli vehicles were attacked by an angry crowd on Friday, after
losing their way and entering Ramallah from the Qalandiyah road block. IDF
troops rescued the two drivers and a passenger, who had been moderately to
lightly injured.
Yesterday, Palestinian militants killed a man in Ramallah for allegedly
collaborating with Israel. Palestinian security sources said that masked
militants seized Hassan Abu Subhi, 27, in Ramallah and walked him through
the streets of the nearby Al Amari refugee camp
They told passersby he had confessed to collaborating with the Shin Bet and
shortly afterward two gunmen riddled his body with bullets outside of a
mosque, the sources said.
Palestinian sources said an Israeli truck and a tow-truck passed the
Qalandiyah road block without being checked by the soldiers posted there on
Friday. A few meters away, near the entrance to the nearby refugee camp an
angry crowd began shouting denunciations at them.
Fatah sources said the young Palestinians in the camp thought the trucks
belonged to an undercover IDF commando and called their friends. Dozens of
young Palestinians, who were attending a rally in solidarity with the
hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners in Israel, surrounded the trucks,
began throwing stones at them and tried to get the Israelis off them.
They also tried to set one of the trucks on fire and caused both vehicles
serious damage. A few minutes later one of the passengers managed to escape
and run back to the road block for help. Meanwhile, the soldiers at a
nearby observation point saw what was happening and troops were dispatched
to rescue the Israelis.
IDF troops arrived, fired in the air, scattered the Palestinians and
evacuated the four Israelis. One of the drivers, aged 50, was taken in
moderate condition to Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem. Two others,
aged 30 and 23, were lightly injured. The trucks were retrieved later.
Military sources said that the IDF does not check all the vehicles entering
Ramallah at the Qalandiyah road block. Many Arab vehicles from East
Jerusalem, bearing Israeli license plates, pass through, they said.
The Central Command reiterated yesterday that the IDF and police forbid
civilians from entering Palestinian towns in the West Bank.

Ramallah- Three Zionist settlers were wounded last night in the Qalandiya
refugee camp to the north of occupied Jerusalem after Palestinian youths
threw stones at them.
The Hebrew radio claimed that the three settlers were boarding a truck and
were heading to Jerusalem when they entered the refugee camp by mistake
where they were stoned and manhandled.
The radio noted that a Zionist army unit managed to "rescue" the three
settlers and took them to a military roadblock where they were transferred
to the Hadassah - Ein Karem hospital in western Jerusalem.
