SUMMARY OF CLAIMED DOCTORATE (AND TRANSCRIPT) OF JAMES TRIMM
=================================================================
Let's review the information James has given us below.,
--- the source of his claimed doctorate.
Note, my concern here is NOT whether
St. Johns Theological Seminary is "legal", or has the legal right to grant degrees
in NM or Texas or Papua New Guinea...
It is simply to speak straight about an abuse, a cheapening, of the
title "Doctorate" when it is used by James'Trimm.
This is a summarization, from the information James Trimm himself has shared, and the previous research.
=================================================================
SUMMARY
St. Johns Theological Seminary - in the 1990's
--- President, Don Hargis
--- Hargis family members have been involved in a family cottage-industry of degree mills
--- President claims a doctorate from the very institution he heads
--- no accreditation
--- no acknowledged affiliation, Don Hargis own catholic organization denied any knowledge
--- no known address
--- transcript shown by James Trimm, name of institution misspelled
--- transcript done on cheap word processor, lacking professors, dates and other basic info
--- transcript gives an appearance of home-made, not from an institution
--- no professors known for any of the 39 courses, or for the Seminary as a whole
--- correspondence courses, yet no known materials of the courses
--- no known students, for all 39 courses, other than James Trimm
--- no known students for the school in the 1990's other than James Trimm
--- the only known claimed doctorates, Don Hargis (President) and James Trimm
Then these
a) unknown professors/teachers/advisors
b) grant a bachelors, a masters (en passant..no documentation) and a doctorate !
c) based on ethereal correspondence courses, life experience, and a revision of an
existing translation finished before school began.
.... 39 courses by James Trimm, yet not one name of the professors and teachers
who gave the courses, and granted the multiple degrees.
Any questions ? Logical conclusions ?
Is this a Doctorate that ANYONE in the believers, Messianic, or
biblical scholarship communities should honor ?
If we call this a "Doctorate", then in cheapens the title of men who have earned doctorates through years of intensive studies, be they, as examples ...
Dr. Michael Brown.
Dr. Maurice Robinson
Dr. James Tabor
It is their, and our, options whether to call these folks.. Michael Brown, or Dr. Michael Brown.
Personally, I rarely use "Dr." but have absolutely no objection to seeing "Dr. Michael Brown"
or "Michael Brown, Phd" ..
Michael Brown put in the years of intensive schooling, the multiple courses and papers,
and Professorial review, and a dissertation, and Michael Brown earned the title.
So, lets have some standards and not cheapen the earned title.
====================================================================
btw, the other student (and treasurer) mentioned, Alicia Soloman, (who was 6 years earlier than James) also has no knowledge of any institution members, professors, teachers, other than Donald Hargis.. her treasurer-ship was for incorporation purposes. Note that, unlike Jim, she did not receive a doctorate.
=====================================================================
NOTE: As far as my personal concern, the doctorate issue can be considered closed,
and my attention will move right back to the immediate, more pressing, and very substantive issue,
the usage of the Way International AEINT as the base text for the HRV.
The revived doctorate claims, and the "transcript" speaks volumes.
Shalom,
Steven Avery

1) Who else has received degrees from this institution, other than yourself and the President of
the Institution... "Don B. Hargis....Doctor of Sacred Theology: St. Johns Theological Seminary "
"The reason for this reactivation of information concerning the Seminary is the necessity
to validate theological credentials for the graduates of the Seminary, which includes Dr. Trimm."
Are these credentials being validated for anyone else in the world ?
REPLY:
Alicia Solomon, M.S.M.
Master of Sacred Music, St. John Chrysostom Theological Seminary, 1989
http://aliciasolomon.com/resume.htm
I cannot name any others off the top of my head. However I have no doubt that they exist since the school functioned from 1973 (as I recall) until either 1995 or 1997.
2) Is Jerome Joachim who signed this degree as Registar Trustee, the same person who died in
November,1997 ? And then showed up this year as Trustee and current Faculty when the school
was reformed with a web presence and an attempt to continue giving degrees? (Joining with the
late Miriam Hargis, to complete the deceased faculty contingent.)
REPLY:
I do not know. However the school has only recently BEGUN a process of reforming and has not
reopened at this time. The files that were up were developmental and were in the process of being
revised from the original faculty lists. When they began to be misrepresented as a final product of
a reopened Seminary they were taken down from public access.

Transcript
(done on a cheap proportional-spacing askew word processor, official seal missing, no address)
http://www.lebtahor.com/truth/trimm/falsedoctorate/transcript.JPG
3) How could a supposed degree-granting institution, a seminary, on official documents,
misspell their own name?
And who do we know who has a reputation for poor spelling ?
such as "plagerism ..translatrs.. lieteral " in the post today.
REPLY: First of all your initial claim is false. The transcript is embossed with a
seal but that seal is of a nature that it does not copy/scan so it is not visible in
the scanned copy. Secondly I cannot answer for the fact that the Bishop made a typo in the transcript when he prepared it. In fact I never noticed it until this typo suddenly
became "evidence of forgery" some two or three years ago.
4) Who were the professors who taught these 39 courses listed ?
James Trimm.. ".Its degree programs are among the most demanding I have ever seen..."
Who taught these demanding programs ?
4) How many students were averaged in the 39 classes? Who were some classmates ?
Any class records ? Yearbooks ?
REPLY: Was that two questions? My relationship with the seminary was on a correspondence basis so
I cannot answer most of those questions. In many cases I was able to test out of certain classes and in some cases (such as the Branch Davidian Theology credit) I was able to receive credit for published or un-published research. In the case of the Branch Davidian credits I was given credit for research and publication on the topic I had done for Watchman Fellowship.
5) Where and when were the courses held ? Did this institution ever put out a course catalog ?
REPLY:
Yes I still have a copy of the 1991 edition.
6) What funding was available, and from whom, for your full scholarship ?
REPLY:
I was granted a full scholarship by the Seminary itself.
GENERAL EDUCATION - JAMES TRIMM
7) Did you receive a GED on 7-1-85, from the Grapevine Collyville School District ?
REPLY:
My father died in my senior year of High School. I was very depressed and blew-off the final semester of High School leaving me one half of one credit short of graduating. I had a choice: Go back for a whole year over one credit. or 2. take the EQUIVALENCY exam and get a High School EQUIVALENCY diploma from the State of Texas.
I took this test on June 10th immediately after I failed to graduate at the end of May.
How well did I do on my GED test?
I am glad you asked.
The test was scored with a "percentile". The 50th percentile was the average baseline. That was the average score made by GRADUATING High School Seniors taking the same test. For example a percentile of 60 would mean that one did better than 60% of Graduating Seniors who took the same test. In order to pass one had to score at least 40 in each of the five areas of the test OR score at least an average score of 45 on all of the tests averaged together. Here were my scores and percentiles:
1. Writing skills Score: 53 Percentile: 62
2. Social Studies Score: 62 Percentile: 88
3. Science Score: 61 Percentile: 86
4. Reading Skills Score: 62 Percentile: 89
5. Mathematics Score: 44 Percentile 27
Average Score: 56
I scored a passing grade in every area and my average was above 45 as well.
In Social Studies I scored higher than 88% of Graduating Seniors taking the same test.
In Science I scored higher than 86% of Graduating Seniors taking the same test.
In Reading Skills I scored higher than 89% of Graduating Seniors taking the same test.
8) Did you ever graduate any college or university, did you ever receive a bachelor's degree,
did you ever receive a master's degree ?
If not, how could any institution grant you a doctorate without your being a college graduate ?
REPLY: I did all my work at the Seminary. Note that I graduated with 210 credits. That is enough
credit hours to account for a bachelor's, a master's and a doctorate combined. That is why the Seminary required me to earn 210 credits. I had to get special approval from the Seminary rector to do this.
MISCELLANEOUS
9) How could a book that was published and copyright in 1990 be used for a doctorate in 1995 ?
"B'SOROT MATTI - The Good News According To Matthew from An Old
Hebrew Manuscript" by James Scott Trimm, (c) 1990, Hebrew/Aramaic New
Testament Research Institute, P.O. Box 471 Hurst, Texas 76053
REPLY: Actually it was a revision including extensive notes based on my 1990 work.
(Note the slightly different title)
10) Why has Don Bryant Hargis - Bishop Don De Cordova - Dom Don Bryant De Cordova
the President of this institution, and signatory, been unavailable for any comment
on the supposed transcript or diploma? And perhaps he would be willing to help you answer these
questions, as President of the "demanding" institution?
REPLY: An email from the Seminary verifying my degree can be seen at:
http://www.nazarene.net/yeshiva/SeminaryEmail.htm
We await your answers to these 10 questions.
=============================================================
Perhaps Philip Arnn, whom you yourself listed for a letter of recommendation,
senior researcher at Watchman Fellowship, (for whom you have written articles)
was simply correct when he said..
"To my knowledge, James does not have a doctorate. He was given an honorary degree by a church. It was something like the Apostolic Catholic Church. James did not go to college. His Hebrew and Aramaic are self taught. He told me he had not been able to afford college. And he told me when this church gave him the doctorate."
"To my knowledge, James never took those courses. He told me De Cordova was giving him an honorary doctorate. I was in fairly close contact with James from '93 thru '95."
===============================================
REPLY: You will note that at that time he also did not recall writing the letter of recommendation. After it was shown to him it jogged his memory and caused him to correct himself and to state further that his own memory on the issue was "vague".

Can we turn our attention to Messianic Apologetics now?
