I have a P1, P2, and P3 (though after DDXP, the P3 will probably be E1). I'm actually more interested in playing games that I haven't played than replaying paragon games. If you get some newish paragon mods, I might jump for those. Otherwise, the current offerings are cool.

I would like to inquire about characters at P2 and P3 that want to play. I can expand P2 and P3 offerings if there are a few.

Please sing out if you have a qualified character.

The P2 and P3 adventures can be expanded. I can also offer the Epic adventure. You have to have a legal character to play, and should have your log with you.

I have already said that I would offer the DDXP event IF I can get them.

Its not clear what the campaign is planning, and while I am working it, I would rather put a lot of energy is making what I have now well run and fun.

Yes, but as you have already said, you are going to DDXP so obviously the offering of those adventures will not be as exciting to you as it would be to most of the rest of the MegaCon gamers who will not be attending DDXP.

This year my wife is attending DDXP as a judge but I could not get the time off from work, so I am not going. She has already given me some interesting info on the BI which I won't share here other than to say it sounds even better than last year's and, if anything, will require even better coordination. I am hoping the BI will be available for Megacon this year, just like it was last. And that we can use the experience my wife gains from it at DDXP to make running it at Megacon at least as successful as last year. Of course, we won't know if we will have it available until some time after DDXP, which makes planning it a little difficult. Another issue of difficulty is that it recommends 10 hours to run it.

As far as Paragon characters go, I currently have 2 14ths and a 16th, plus 2 10ths that will likely be P1 by the time Megacon rolls around. I am endeavoring to get my get my16th to P3 (preferably 18th) by Megacon, but getting enough P2 players together to play P2 adventures isn't always easy. Not including myself, I know of 4 other players in my area that have P2 characters, most of those are 16th level. I know of another 8 or so in the Orlando area who also don't qualify for P3, but could by Megacon. I know there is another handful in the Gainesville area and in the Tampa area but have less concrete info on their numbers. Outside of Chad, I don't know of anyone likely to be Epic level by Megacon, though I am sure many would like to be.

Oh, and Chad, you WILL want to play the BI at the level 20 Tier at DDXP.

Thanks for the advice about what tier to play the BI.

I didn't mean to imply that Dom shouldn't try to get the DDXP events for MegaCon, just that I'm perfectly happy to be playing other events that I have not already played.

I attended MegaCon last year and played several games there that I had already played at DDXP, and had a great time doing so. I'mall for people getting access to these games.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok so I have Blurbs on the first 4 CMP's for 2011 that I should have available
to run at Megacon
CMP 2011-01 Moving Day
Extracting one person can be tough. Extracting an entire family? Thats on a
whole different level. They say Never deal with a dragon, but maybe they should
add Never do a job involving grade schoolers and hormonal teens!
CMP 2011-02 The Prize of Failure
Every Johnson promises an easy job, and this ones no exception. Scare an
unwilling scientist into extracting willingly. You dont even have to do the
extraction yourself. How hard could this be?
CMP 2011-03 Threads of the Past
A rockslide on Mt. Rainier has uncovered an ancient ship embedded in the rock,
and a tunnel leading into previously unknown caverns inside the volcanic
mountain. Grab some rope, lanterns, and a 3 meter pole, because youve just been
hired to explore this ancient cavern.
CMP 2011-04 Ancient Pawns
The leadership of the elven gang the Ancients is being challenged, and the
challenger is looking for a team of runners to act as his proxies on short
notice. Up for a night of mayhem and chaos, Ancients style?
We will aadd the LFR Interactive ADCP3-1, two new additional adventures ELTU3-1,
ELTU3-2, and the Core specials SPEC3-1, SPEC3-2
Blurbs!
ELTU 3-1 Good Intentions
A string of grisly murders has hit the town of Triel... Word on the streets is
that insanity is gripping the townspeople and a new cult is to blame. Are these
just whispers in the dark or is something sinister behind it all? A Living
Forgotten Realms adventure set in Triel in Elturgard for heroic tier characters
levels 1-10.
ELTU3-2 Blue Wounds
In the wake of the recent conflict against the Spellplagued hordes, the paladins
of Elturel find themselves and their city pushed to the breaking point by blue
fire corruption. Elturel's citizenry is overlooked as Torm's followers focus
their duty as one of vengeance, not guardianship. In this environment,
sometimes hero and villain alike can find common cause to do good - or are
ulterior motives intertwined with villainous charity? A Living Forgotten Realms
adventure set in in Elturel in Elturgard for heroic tier characters levels 1-10.
ADCP3-1 Swarm of Chaos (2 rnds)
Cleansing the infestation beneath the boughs of Cormanthor reveals on the
beginning of the corruption. Demon cultists have infiltrated Myth Drannor and
the ancient land needs your help to stop their nefarious plot. Swarm of Chaos is
a two-round continuous-play Living Forgotten Realms Battle Interactive set in
Mth Drannor for characters levels 1-20. This adventure is combat-intensive.
Players who do not enjoy combat encounters are less likely to enjoy this
adventure. It is recommended that at least three of the characters be members of
the same Adventuring Company. This adventure takes place after the events of the
SPEC3-1 Roots of Corruption adventures, but playing the adventures in order is
not required. This adventure may only be run at Wizards Play Network (WPN)
Public Play events. It may not be sanctioned for Private Play.
SPEC3-1 Roots of Corruption: Infestation
Two years ago the city of Myth Drannor was overrun with vermin. While
adventurers were able to purge the infestation, bigger problems at the time
ensured the event was quickly forgotten. Now an awfully familiar fungi spreads
its tendrils through the ancient woodlands of Cormanthor and this time it's
proving harder to kill... A Living Forgotten Realms special adventure set in
Myth Drannor for level 1 - 10, loosely connected with SPEC3-2 Roots of
Corruption: Dark Seeds, and SPEC1-3 Ghost of the Past: Hive of Corruption.
SPEC3-2 Roots of Corruption: Dark Seeds
Two years ago the city of Myth Drannor was overrun with vermin. While
adventurers were able to purge the infestation, bigger problems at the time
ensured the event was quickly forgotten. Now, worried by the spread of an
awfully familiar fungi, adventurers must enter the Citadel of Fungi, a place so
toxic nobody has approached it in living memory, to eliminate the source before
it is too late. A Living Forgotten Realms special adventure set in Myth Drannor
for level 11 - 20, loosely connected with SPEC3-1 Roots of Corruption:
Infestation, and SPEC1-3 Ghost of the Past: Hive of Corruption.
Dominick,
What do you need for judges at Megacon? Do you need Pathfinder or LFR judge? I can do either game. I am trying to get the week before the convention off from work so they don't send me someplace out of town. I may need to leave on Sunday, but I should be able to work the other days.
I appreciate judges! I need help for sure, especially experienced judges!
> What do you need for judges at Megacon?
People who love people. :-)
I will need LFR help, but I have pathfinder holes.
I can use people who have a few mods they can run for walk in people as well.
> Do you need Pathfinder or LFR judge?
Yes I can use either. Someone who can switch is valuable!
Until PvP slots fill I am not worried about judges for that. I hope I get some PvP takers.
Are these just whispers in the dark or is something sinister behind it all? A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in Triel in Elturgard for heroic tier characters levels 1-10.
ELTU3-2 Blue Wounds
In the wake of the recent conflict against the Spellplagued hordes, the paladins of Elturel find themselves and their city pushed to the breaking point by blue fire corruption. Elturel's citizenry is overlooked as Torm's followers focus their duty as one of vengeance, not guardianship. In this environment, sometimes hero and villain alike can find common cause to do good - or are ulterior motives intertwined with villainous charity? A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in in Elturel in Elturgard for heroic tier characters levels 1-10.
ADCP3-1 Swarm of Chaos (2 rnds)
Cleansing the infestation beneath the boughs of Cormanthor reveals on the beginning of the corruption. Demon cultists have infiltrated Myth Drannor and the ancient land needs your help to stop their nefarious plot. Swarm of Chaos is a two-round continuous-play Living Forgotten Realms Battle Interactive set in Mth Drannor for characters levels 1-20. This adventure is combat-intensive. Players who do not enjoy combat encounters are less likely to enjoy this adventure. It is recommended that at least three of the characters be members of the same Adventuring Company. This adventure takes place after the events of the SPEC3-1 Roots of Corruption adventures, but playing the adventures in order is not required. This adventure may only be run at Wizards Play Network (WPN) Public Play events. It may not be sanctioned for Private Play.
SPEC3-1 Roots of Corruption: Infestation
Two years ago the city of Myth Drannor was overrun with vermin. While adventurers were able to purge the infestation, bigger problems at the time ensured the event was quickly forgotten. Now an awfully familiar fungi spreads its tendrils through the ancient woodlands of Cormanthor and this time it's proving harder to kill... A Living Forgotten Realms special adventure set in Myth Drannor for level 1 - 10, loosely connected with SPEC3-2 Roots of Corruption: Dark Seeds, and SPEC1-3 Ghost of the Past: Hive of Corruption.
SPEC3-2 Roots of Corruption: Dark Seeds
Two years ago the city of Myth Drannor was overrun with vermin. While adventurers were able to purge the infestation, bigger problems at the time ensured the event was quickly forgotten. Now, worried by the spread of an awfully familiar fungi, adventurers must enter the Citadel of Fungi, a place so toxic nobody has approached it in living memory, to eliminate the source before it is too late. We are settling the schedule and judges for Megacon. If you want to volunteer,
please tell me as soon as possible. We need people to help with Living Forgotten
Realms, Pathfinder and other games. If you want to DM something not listed,
please ask.
If you played the Pathfinder interactive or the DDXP LFR interactive, we really
would like your help! If you are interested email me directly.
A full time judge works 16 hours at the convention. Part time judges work less
that that. A full time judge gets a free convention badge for the weekend. All
judges can win judge prizes, every slot at least one judge in that slot will
win.
If you are new to judging, try volunteering for one or two slots of a low level
module. We will have help for you, we want to grow the Florida wide judge pool
for every event in the state.
I select full time judges from the pools from gaming stores, conventions and
other public play. Again, If you are interested email me directly.
I have two slot zero days scheduled for Pathfinder and LFR interactives and
events. I am experimenting with other means to prepare judges as well.
As always the schedule for RPG is listed at:
I talk all the time with mini gamers in Tampa. We sometimes cooperate in events.
The big issue is the track record. In the past few years I have made RPG tables available for minis, but the turnout has been light.
This year, the convention is packed full for room. If there were mini gamers looking for a table Friday or Sunday, I may have space for a four hour slot. Come by my room when its not busy and lets talk.
Let me ask what miniatures do you mean?
GW games have not gone well recently at HMGS south. Hurricon had less than 10 players for fantasy. The bottom line is that they have just not drawn well enough to cover the cost of a room, tables and chairs.
I am posting this in the general group to get wide dissemination. Players and
Judges both have a part in this task.
We are making up pass lists, based on volunteer hours and player loading.
Judges that preregister games will get passes, and you will be expected to have
people ready to play. I have limited stand by judges, but I expect the majority
of walk in will be either Pathfinder or LFR.
The deadline for my judge pass list is Feb 24th.
1) Your tables have to show you have people ready to play.
I will give allowances, but if you have zero players over all four slots, I
can't offer a pass. If you don't have many players, then get people to sign up
and register on Warhorn. If you are running a "My Little Pony RPG" every week,
and they are going to Megacon, they ought to sign up. I promise I will clear
people as fast as my little fingers and the internet will let me.
2) I have other volunteer opportunities.
I will put you on other games if you request. Consider offering some one hour
games. Maybe you have something else. Patrons last year asked for Anime RPG
games. Maybe you have something like Ravenloft to offer. Talk to me, I am a fair
guy.
3) I won't close your tables, if there is room, and you have people then you
have a table.
I just can't extend a pass because you will be there to offer a game. If you are
certain I am wrong that a lot of people will be walk in players, buy a ticket
this year and show me I am wrong.
Any RPG that has judges and players is welcome at Megacon. I think so far
opening it up has been positive. A lot of people are excited and we are starting
to gear up.
I can accommodate a lot of judge requests for games on Warhorn, post them, and
make them available. I have two helpers this year to get things done, and able
to focus on behind the scene tasks, that go very thankless.
I will do what it takes to help you promote your game. This can't extend to
passes if you have no players before the deadline. I will be in Orlando the 19th
for Slot Zeros and I will have details on the Megacon RPG Judge yahoogroup.
Surviving The Swarm of Chaos – a Battle Interactive primer
On March 27th, Megacon in Orlando will be hosting the Living Forgotten Realms’ second Battle Interactive; ADCP3-1 The Swarm of Chaos. As coordinator for the Battle Interactive at Megacon, I have compiled a FAQ for those of you unfamiliar with a Battle Interactive, or those just simply looking to get the most out of it.
1)     What is a Battle Interactive?
A Battle Interactive (BI) is a challenging adventure that is run at multiple tables at the same time and where the actions at one table can affect those of another. As the name implies, it typically involves a battle or similar large event. As BIs typically represent major events, the results of BIs are often reflected across the entire campaign.
2)      How long does a BI last?
The Swarm of Chaos is a two-round adventure, meaning it takes double the time to play as a normal adventure at a convention or game-day (This particular mod was designed to take 9 hours). You will be expected to be there the whole time. There will be short breaks after each encounter while DMs tally the results and a larger break about half-way through the adventure. This break will be no more than thirty minutes, please plan ahead for lunch/snacks accordingly.
3)      What is different about a BI from a regular adventure?
How a BI differs from a regular adventure depends on the particular BI. For purposes of this document, we will focus solely on The Swarm of Chaos. When the BI starts, you will be mustered and seated as you would for any other LFR adventure. Please note the changes to level band structure for year three apply. Legal table ranges are Heroic: 1-4, 2-5, 3-6, 4-7, 5-8, 6-9, 7-10, Paragon: 11-14, 12-15. 13-16, 14-17, 15-18, 16-19, 17-20. An introduction will then be given by the BI coordinator to all players of the BI. This will be followed by some additional information from your DM. After which, the first encounter will begin. All encounters will be timed and will begin and end at the same time. You have until the end of that time period to accomplish whatever goal you have. When time is called you are done. The results are then tallied by the DMs (during which you may take a short break) and the process repeats itself until the adventure is complete.
4)      What is so challenging about The Swarm of Chaos?
During The Swarm of Chaos you will be challenged in two ways. First is the difficulty of the encounters. Monsters will be tougher than is typical for an LFR adventure and just killing them won’t always be the goal. The second challenge is that each encounter will be timed. You will have a set amount of real time in which to accomplish your goals and your rewards will depend on how much you succeed in during this time. So bring your ‘A’ game.
5)      Will there be much ‘role-playing’ in The Swarm of Chaos?
As the name, ‘Battle Interactive,’ implies, the focus of a BI is primarily on combat. It is an opportunity for you to show off those mad D&D skilz you keep bragging about to everyone. But D&D is still a role-playing game, so some opportunities may arise to show off your more subtle RP skilz.
6)      What else is special about The Swarm of Chaos?
At certain points during the BI there will be opportunities for select tables (based on play level) to undertake special missions. Only one table can participate in each special mission. Be forewarned that these missions are even harder than the regular ones (AL+5), and may require special talents such as stealth or diplomacy.
7)      What about The Swarm of Chaos is actually interactive?
There will be several points during the adventure where individuals, tables, and the entire body of players at the BI will be asked to make decisions. These decisions can and will affect the course of the adventure for everyone playing. In addition, tables of players that find themselves being particularly challenged during an encounter can call for help. This help may or may not be given by players from other tables.
8)      Do you have any tips for helping me get the most out of The Swarm of Chaos.
As has been stated before, The Swarm of Chaos will be very challenging, so bring you’re A’ game. Timed rounds are the issue that most players will be unfamiliar with, so here are some tips for helping to speed up game-play at the table:
 • a)      Know your character. Be familiar with all of your powers and how they work. You won’t have a lot of time to be studying your rulebooks during the encounter.
 • b)      Know your teammates. While this can sometimes be difficult at a convention where you never know who you are going to be seated with, try to become familiar with what the other players can do and with their tactics. Coordinated teams are usually the most effective ones in a BI.
 • c)       Be prepared. Make sure you have your dice, paper, pencils, miniature, and updated character sheet with you before you sit down at the table.
 • d)      Stay focused. You will be under the clock. While D&D is a social game, you will have time after the encounter for chit-chat, off-topic conversations and deciding what magic item your character should pick from the previous adventure
 • e)      Plan your turn. Don’t wait until it is your turn to decide what you are going to do. Pay attention to what is going on at the table and be prepared with a plan when it is your turn.
 • f)       Have a plan ‘B.’ The best laid plans oft go astray and sometimes what you planned to do on your turn won’t work because of something that occurred just before it. Have a backup plan for what you are going to do if you can’t do what you originally wanted.
 • g)      Roll attack and damage dice at the same time. This doesn’t always work for some powers but it usually helps speed things up to do this.
 • h)      Don’t get bogged down in a rules argument. No one is going to care if your character should have done 5 more points of damage to that Ogre if the table failed to reach their encounter goal because you wasted 15 minutes arguing about it. If you disagree with the DM and cannot find proof quickly, just accept his/her ruling and bring it up with him after the game.
 • i)        Don’t wander off during combat. Your character’s involvement in an encounter doesn’t end when his or her turn does. Be available and attentive even when it isn’t your turn. There will be breaks after the encounter that you can use to catch up with old friends, take a bite to eat, use the facilities, or smoke a cigarette.
 • j)        Most importantly – Listen closely to the objective of each encounter. It will not always be to slay all the monsters.
9)      So how can I get in on The Swarm of Chaos?
In order to play The Swarm of Chaos at Megacon you must have a ticket for Sunday for the convention. You may get tickets here: http://megaconvention.com/. Once you have tickets you can sign up for the game at: http://warhorn.net/megacon-2011/. If you are interested in DMing The Swarm of Chaos at Megacon, please contact me, Bill Baldwin, at: trollbill@...
A schedule for slot zeroing the BI for judges is being worked on. Contact me for more details.
Just check your gaming schedule on Warhorn and anywhere you have an open slot, pre-reg with us. You'll have four hours of adventure and excitement. While "a Jedi craves not these things", we know that you do. We have all the dice, minis and character sheets, so bring your imagination and well take it from there. Also, here's an added incentive, this will be the last MegaCon before the full length Adventurer's Guide to Terrath is published, so get in on the ground floor of this baby.
Shroud of the Ancients D5 RPG
It is an age of exploration and adventure. Religious sects, political groups and wealthy merchant guilds struggle against one another to gain power, wealth and influence in the Free City-States. Meanwhile, caravans and expeditions leave daily to reclaim the shattered and deadly lands of Terrath.  Will you band together with these brave souls on their journeys or will you strive to join the ranks of such elite groups as The Bearers of Aegis or Keepers of the Secret Flame? Or will you find your own path to greatness? Everyone has a destiny. Where will yours take you?
Powered by the D5 System, it utilizes a tiered magic system for flexibility and creativity. It is a classless, levelless, skill driven rules set that doesn't constrain your character with limitations and restrictions. The Shroud of the Ancients Role Playing Game brings to life a realistic fantasy world where heroes, armed with cold steel, quick wits and formidable magic, vie for power against the enemies of the innocent.
Dark Tavern Press returns to MegaCon for our 7th straight year with the Shroud of the Ancients D5 Role Playing Game (SOTARPG). Join us at the Character Creation Workshop and learn about the world of Terrath while creating a unique character of your own or feel free to play one of our pre-generated iconic characters during the many slots we are offering this year in the exclusive Tip of the Scales Trilogy.
Tip of the Scales Part I: Into the Enemy's Camp
The Order of the Raven has commissioned you to retrieve something of great value that was stolen from them.  They have traced it to the foot of the Mountains and have spotted a few campfires along the base.  Can you find what the Order seeks and make it back alive to collect your reward?
Tip of the Scales Part II: Beyond the Darkness
With raiding parties gathering for a possible attack, the town of Hallis has turned to the Order of the Raven for any means of defense.  The Order believes they have uncovered an ancient secret buried deep in the Ebon Forest that may be the town's salvation.  Will you uncover what was lost and return in time to help prevent the oncoming assault?
Tip of the Scales Part III: Through Streets of Blood
As the town of Hallis prepares for inevitable invasion, the villagers continue to look to the Grey Tower and the Order of the Raven to answer their prayers.  But, an unexpected event marks the beginning of what could be the end for Hallis.  Can you help turn the tide or even escape when the streets run red with blood?
Let me know if you have problems preregistering on Warhorn.
In general guys, for games like this we would like to see people say ahead that they are going to play and to sign up. This is how I justify the space for RPG of all type.
The RPG campaigns that historically have been able to run have always had a lot of preregistration, that lets con Management know there is interest, and lets them reduce the risk in handing us such a nice place to play.
So if you want D5 gaming, D&D2e, or any RPG fill those tables NOW! :-)
I sound too much like a PBS appeal...
Nah ! There's no music playing in the background and no phone number to call.
But as Dominick says pre-reg. If you don't, you may not find that game you were hoping to play.
And if you have friends coming, but won't be playing, they still should pre-pay for their tickets. Nothing sucks like having to stand in line for hours to get a ticket and missing a game, panel or autograph.
