For those of you non-owner sailors who are eager to purchase but fear what the sticker prices MIGHT be, don't be fooled there are plenty of decent sailboats out there.
We have one person on our list refurbishing, quite nicely it sounds, a boat he purchase for $1. A Person 26 I believe.
I recently helped a friend take ownership of a Cape Dory 22 for $500. A boat that sells on the market for ? $6k to $10k ...
There are a few other nice sailboats for sale on this list for under BOOK value ... i.e. a 26 foot Bristol that's in great shape.
Here is an example of a SEEMINGLY decent sailboat for $3000, well under its market value. "I" have NOT seen this boat in person;

27' Catalina Sailboat
A great sailboat at a great price! I no longer have time to enjoy this boat, so I need to sell it before I rack up more storage fees. Sails nicely, well balanced, and thrives upwind in moderated conditions. Easy to sail and relatively fast.

It has 6' headroom, galley with alcohol stove, sink and icebox, enclosed head, and sleeping accommodations for 5. This particular boat was built in 1972, has a 8hp outboard, tiller steering, good sails, 2 batteries, depth finder, stereo, anchor and lots more.
Book value according to the boatyard is $6,000. You can have it for $3,000 firm, which includes storage until
