Re: Vineyard in Aug

Dave:

Anchoring in Lake Tashmoo is always free and there is plenty of room.
Vineyard Haven is a 1/2-3/4 hr walk depending on your speed.
And then there is always Mad Martha's to cool off with. lol

What I have done, and it probably isn't the best advice, is watch for someone else to enter. Hopefully, a much bigger boat. See how they do, and where they...

Ed, What's the draft of your boat? The channel is narrow but doable. My first time I went into L. Tash I was astonished to see swimmers walking along the side...

Re: Vineyard Get there early enough and you will have good luck getting a mooring. Tashmoo is very nice and very quiet, but does have some very shallow spots,...

The draft is 6.5ft on a Pearson 34, with a 30HP Auxillary. It *should* do 5kts. Unfortunately, not *my* boat, but the BHSC keeps them in good shape. Thanks for...

I'd second the recommendation on Lake Tashmoo. It's a very pleasant place to anchor, very protected with wonderful holding ground. There's a public dock (with...

Anchoring is fine outside breakwater, have done it many times. I'd suggest heading over to Edgartown, as you can reserve a mooring in advance, like now,...
