You need hard wire ESU Lokpilot decoder V3.0 or Loksound decoder V3.5 supporting
DCC/Motorola. Are you going to use it on 2 rails track?
Thanks, DCCTRAIN

Good Morning All,

I wish to convert my Roco Ae6/8 from analog to Marklin digital. It is the museum
edition version (43844). It is older so that it does not have the plug
receptical for the Roco 10738 decoder. Anybody have any experience with this?
What do I need to keep in mind when doing this conversion?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

Is anyone aware of any technical documentation of Softdrive (i.e. schematics,
specifications, component descriptions etc)? I'm not referring to the standard
marketing brochures distributed by Marklin.

TIA,

Gil

I had a similar problem when I tried to convert a new (2009) Marklin Krokodil
with softdrive sinus to DCC. It came with a ESU LokPilot mfx. There is
documentation in the ESU site on how to connect Vdd through AUX4 function line,
which I followed. I replaced the Lokpilot with a Lenz decoder (LE1025). The
engine worked very slowly. I then tried a Digitrax DZ123 and it destroyed the
sinus controller board. Now waiting to get a new board from lokshop for 75 Euro.

Hello and help,

I have a Marklin Delta HO train set that was produced around 2003. A
starter set. As of yesterday the engine has become very sporadic, for
lack of a better word. There are some sparks, but it is not responding
to commands. If I shake the engine it may fire up, but only briefly. I
am extremely disappointed. I have purchased additional rolling stock
and intended to expand further. Any suggestions. Should I try to sell
it?

Thanks,

Bill

Hello,

What about the Ecos upgrade? I hear that it will handle MFX in 2009,
or is that untrue? Can I do that with mine, even if I use Intellibox
Power 3 boosters? I don't care about the reporting feature of MFX. I
just want the extra sounds!

Dear Eduardo,
The main problem in order to convert this engine is to find a decoder
that can handle more than 2 amp. Some years ago Marklin made a special
decoder for the 36159 the replica of the 3015 in brown color. This
decoder was a 6080 decoder with the special electronics to hadle the
big motor of the 3015. The decoder is not available any more as a spare
part.
I have the 3015 and the 30159 and I wanted to upgrade the last one to
digital so I started to look in some German forums until I found how to
make it. There is a special decoder from the Brand Profilok number
PD303 that hadles up to 3 amp and has the size of the 6090.Now Thanks
to this decoder and the web page of Bernd's model train site I have an
improved 36159 it runs very well and the decoder drives the motor and
all lights with no problem( I made the upgrade just a week ago).
Here you can see Bernd's upgrade of his two 30159 to digital with
photos http://berndsmodellbahn.spaces.live.com
The Profilok PD303 decoders are available at http://www.hobby-
eberhardt.de/
Also there is a shop in Swisterland that have a special block engine
that actualy changes the total engine of the 3015 for a corless one. In
this way you can put almos any decoder but for me this is like changing
the original engine of a 1950 Rols Royce for a new sport japanese
engine....here you can see the block engine for exchange
http://www.morep.ch/index.htm
look into unsere Produktionhüber and them Antriebe+Umbauten

Hope that this will help you

First of all its such a rare and valuable model that I don't know if I would change it.  an original one in the box just went for just over 1000$ on ebay

Someone on marklin-users.net was converting one. he was going to replace the field coil with a neodymium magnet.
He was trying to calculate the correct size to match the magnetic field of the rotor.  I don't know if he ever posted if he had finished the conversion.
even with that  the  motor  will draw  a few amps so you will need a decoder that can handle the current.

Hello Tom,

I did not work on this engine, but I'm installing decoders 3-5 per
day it is my job.
If is has DC motor then it should be no problem; I successfully
converted AC motor using higher amperage diodes.

Decoder for BR38 is 52504, you can purchase it from us

http://www.dcctrain.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=2410

also you need to buy speaker here is shop for XL speakers

http://www.dcctrain.com/shop/category.asp?catid=64

Manual for Decoder in English with all diagrams, I'm using decoders
setting to synchronies chaffs.

Thanks,

Alexander

Hello to the group!

Is it possible for me to digitize my DC-powered Marklin 5749 (large
scale) WITHOUT converting the motor or rebuilding it in any way?
I'd like to install a Loksound XL. But Loksound's Marklin
digitizing web page says that the 5749's motor needs to be rebuilt
to a SB Faulhaber. I wonder why that would be necessary, since I'm
pretty sure the motor is a DC variety. There are only 2 wires going
to it, and it won't run on AC - it just sits on the track and
hums. Other questions:
I think this lok may have a cam sensor switch on it. Can this be
used to synch steam chuff with loksound?
Has anyone come up with good instructions in English for installing
a Loksound XL?
Can I order a Loksound XL with the sounds of a BR38 (P8)- that's
what this lok is.

Any other advice would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom Cox
