Hi Sue,
I have nothing on your Daniel or his father Francis, but Rich
in his 'Truro Cape Cod' quotes Freeman as saying "SMALL, SMALLE,
or SMALLEY, the same in all cases. Seems quite a generalization
but thought I'd pass it on.

Hi!

Would anyone be near the Maine Archives or going to the Archives and could
get me a copy of a marriage certificate??

I would like to have a copy of my 2nd great grandparents marriage. They
were from Campobello, NB but married in Eastport on May 10 1881 (according
to the Eastport Vital Sentinal Book). There names were William O. BROWN and
Clara SEARLES. I am hoping the certificate will name William's parents.

I would be happy with just a regular photocopy of the certificate and will
happily reimburse any postage and copying fees.

If you can give me a hand, please contact me at lilman@...

Thanks!!

Hi, all. I had good luck with the following, but it's possible that info
prior to 1892 will have to be researched in the town records. You could
give 'em a quick call to see, tho.

The archives (1892 - 1922) will accept phone orders using a credit card.
Call 'em at (207) 287-5795, give them the people you're looking for, and
before you know it you'll have the paperwork in your mailbox!

The Human Svcs group (1923 and later) wants the request in writing, but
they'll take it as a fax at (207) 287-1907. Provide your credit card
number and expiry date, your daytime phone #, your address, and a good
description of the record you are asking for. Their VOICE number is (207)
287-3181 if you want to talk to someone in person.

This info was good within the last 8 months or so, but may have changed.

Jim

I'm wondering if there is someone on this list who is able and willing to give
me a
hand. I am searching for the marriage record of Leander TOWERS and Eliza
KEISER, ca 1855. Leander was born in NewBrunswick, Canada and Eliza was
born in Maine. Their daughter, Sarah Jeanette TOWERS, was also born in Maine.
Since Washington Co. is the nearest to NewBrunswick I thought I would start
here.

My question is whether there is a marriage index for the above county and if
so
where might I find a copy?

Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

I have been trying to identify the parents of William S. JOHNSON (b.
May, 1859; d Nov 24, 1917) unsuccessfully for the past 18 months. Is
there anyone out there that might be able to help. The following is
what I have:

He married Allura TARBOX June 8, 1891. According to birth records of
hteir children in Perham, Maine, he was most probably born in
Pittsfield, Maine (no records found there) or Houlton, Maine (no
record).

He had 2 brothers that I have been told of: Ed who lived in Gardner
Creek, and Loren who lived in Island Falls. I was told that William
died while visiting Loren (no record there).

In the 1900 census he was living in Washburn, Maine (Aroostook County).

Children of William S. Johnson & Allura Tarbox were:
Lena
Dora
Perley
Sidney
Henry

My interest also involves descendants in this family.

I have checked records in the following additional towns: Perham,
Washburn, Caribou, Woodland, Presque Isle (all in Aroostook County);
Maine State Archives for his birth and death records. . . . .

Your help will be most appreciated,
Joyce

Hi!

Are you saying that William's death record was not among the state records
at the archives in Augusta?

Is it possible he died out of state? Have you followed all children to
their deaths and burial locations? Perhaps he went to live with one of them
and died there.

Have you found him in the 1910?

Maybe a check of probate records for Aroostook (they do mail requests) or
whereever he was in 1910 might turn up something. Perhaps he was missed from
the state records.
