About The Workshop
The three day interpreting workshop will cover:
- skills on consecutive, dialogue, and simultaneous interpreting
- note taking for consecutive and dialogue interpreting
- problems and strategies in interpreting (at and above word level & grammatical equivalence and cohesion)
- the role of the interpreter
- simultaneous interpreting exercises (Indonesian- English-Indonesi an)
This workshop is recommended for everyone with future plans to take up interpreting as a profession and self-learned interpreters who want to build their capacity to become professional interpreters.

About The Speaker
Dr. Barry Turner has extensive experience as an educator, practitioner, and researcher in translating and interpreting. He is accredited by the Australian National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) as an Interpreter (Indonesian- English) and Translator (Indonesian - English, Malay into English and English into Indonesian). He was the first Chair of the NAATI Indonesian and Malay Panel of Examiners and served on this Panel for many years. In recent years he also served on the NAATI English Panel in developing English translation and consecutive interpreting materials.
