Chinese babies stolen by officials for foreign adoption
--------------------

In some rural areas, instead of levying fines for violations of China's child
policies, greedy officials took babies, which would each fetch $3,000 in
adoption fees.

By Barbara Demick :: reporting from tianxi, china

September 20 2009

The man from family planning liked to prowl around the mountaintop village,
looking for diapers on clotheslines and listening for the cry of a hungry
newborn. One day in the spring of 2004, he presented himself at Yang Shuiying's
doorstep and commanded: "Bring out the baby."

I sent an e-mail to Yifen and she sent me an application. It took a couple of weeks to get it, but it did arrive via e-mail.  Since  a check is due w/ the application, you have to print it off and mail it to her.
So, I think her e-mail works, she might just be slow at doing e-mail.  You might want to try to call her instead.

This was just sent to me today and very last minute, but thought that
I would share if anyone is interested.

Hi all,

I've just been asked by Lisa Sims, an International Folk dancer from
Milwaukee to forward the following:

There is a Chinese dance troupe from New York who will be doing a show at
the Overture Center this Thursday, February 12th- 7:30pm to approx.
10:00pm.

The Milwaukee group is selling tickets at 20% discount at the Hilldale
Mall tomorrow (Wednesday the 11th) from 11:00am - 6:00pm outside of
Macy's.

The tickets at regular price are $28-$88.

She says this is a group who is bringing back traditional Chinese dance
that has been supressed for a very long time inside China.
She's very enthusiastic about it and says it will definitely be worth
anyone's time and money.

If you are curious about the group, go to WWW.DevineArts. org for more
info.

Also - Lisa's contact number is: 414-379-6275

Thanks,

Terrie

That is SO sweet of you to offer Lisa -- my little girl isn't home yet (this AWFUL wait) but I'm glad to hear of everyone's ideas on the dresses.  I did want to say for those interested, I do know that the mall in Rockford, Illinois had a store which was full of Chinese dresses.  I'm not sure of the name, but I couldn't believe it when I saw it.  Just in case you're interested.

chinese dresses for our little girls

Posted by: "Lisa" flowergirl53575@yahoo.com   flowergirl53575

Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:15 pm (PST)

Hi Everyone,
When I went to China to get my children I bought 5 dresses each for
each year until age 5. What if we compiled our dress collections for
the use of Chinese family pictures at the Chinses New Year celebration?
I would be willing to have a little girl wear one of my daughters'
dresses for a picture that day. I plan to save all the dresses for my
girls to take with them, possibly for their daughters. I would not
want to lend them for the day, just for pictures.
Any ideas?
Lisa

In the past we have had a problem with many parents (myself included)
waiting until the first day of class to register. As our enrollment
has continued to increase, this has become problematic and caused
confusion and made things a little chaotic on the first day of class.

In order to get the semester off to a better start, MHCS has
instituted a $10 late registration fee. Hopefully this will be
incentive to get those registration forms in before school starts.

For those of you who have not yet registered, please visit the
website: http://madisonhopechineseschool.googlepages.com/ and go to
the registration form link.

I just want to make sure people are aware of this who haven't checked
the website or looked at the registration form yet. If we can all do
our part and get those registration forms in early, we should have a
great start for the Year of the Ox!

School starts this Saturday! See you all there.

-Julie
