MWM Currents is an Official Mensa Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Metropolitan Washington Mensa (MWM) local group for Mensans in Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, eastern West Virginia, and all of Maryland.

The map at right is the MWM area, third largest US Mensa group, smaller in member numbers than New York and Chicago and bigger than San Francisco and all others.

Currents promotes honest and friendly discussion about people, issues and currents in events and our lives. We even discuss Mensa politics without getting obsessive about it. Happily, MWM and Maryland Mensa have many gentle and kind people.

This SIG started in April 2006 for members to write in a spirit of affability and good humor. We want to enjoy and improve life by meeting fun and interesting people online and in person. We enjoy Mensa above all as a social club. We have fun with all our friends at our meetings.

To join us, send an email message with your Mensa member number and your name to MWM_Currents-owner@yahoogroups.com from the address with which you apply to join. Establish a Yahoo user profile or Yahoo won't let you use the on line website features of a Yahoo Group. Please put your first and last name and city/state in your Yahoo profile to identify yourself in on line communications with Currents. It's easy to establish a special profile just for Currents, if there's concern about privacy. We ask that you make an introduction of yourself to Currents members after you join. We do not consider anonymous memberships.
