Mothering Maxim – Love yourself as you love your child
Mothering matters. And mothers also matter. You best meet your child’s needs, when you first acknowledge your own needs.
Mum Moment - What helps you meet your child's needs?
Counting to 10 a lot. Listening.
Watching. Being honest about my needs.
Accepting myself. Using softer tones.
Being a child-with my child. Going with my instincts.
Tearing up my To-Do list. Being able to forgive. Again and again.
Turning off the TV. Taking a nap so I'm rested.
A microwave. Using an answering machine more often.
Using paper plates sometimes. Noticing when my child does something right.
Letting God love me. Asking an older mum lots of questions.
Seizing the moment. Never giving up.

From A Mother’s Heart
Mothering matters. And mothers also matter.
Therefore, when it comes to recognising and meeting your child's needs, remember this:
-You can begin to meet your child's needs by recognising that you, too, have needs.
-You can best meet your child's needs by understanding and accepting your child, but also by understanding and accepting yourself.
-You can best meet your child's needs by realising that you can't meet all of your child's needs all the time and other people can help.
-You can best meet your child's needs, by examining what you liked and didn't like in the way you were mothered.
-You can best meet your child's needs by focusing on the main thing: loving your child. The rest will eventually fall into place.
