Mothering Maxim
Give what you want to receive.
Mum Moment
When God created the heavens and the earth, He saw that it was good. When He came to creating “Man”, good becomes very good. We are the highest of God’s created order. We are God’s ‘life work’, just as our little creations – our children – become the essence of our life’s work. In time they will reflect us – our attitudes, our mannerisms, our looks – just as we can choose to reflect God, our Creator.
This ‘reflecting back’ holds true in our other relationships over time. If we want encouragement, encouragement is what we give. If we want connection with others through smiles and caring touch, that is what we give out. If we want friends, we become the kind of friend we would love to have. Our love given becomes love received. Our sniping at others sadly comes back to revisit too.
Go on a daily diet of looking for what is good in others. Be stingy with your criticism and generous with your praise. Be a beacon of hope to those who need it. Be the kind of person that people love to be around - one who encourages others and lifts them up. By doing this you will not only be helping others, but you will help yourself and your family in the process.

Willy the Watermelon
This passage gives an opportunity to talk to young children using sensory perceptions (a tasty watermelon) about the goodness of God and the meaning of trust.
* Use your own judgment as to how to explain in simple words how God's presence is in all the good tasty things that he has created.
* We should always be thankful for the wonderful and tasty things God has created for He is in all good things around us.

Ask the kids the 5 W's about watermelons
Who likes watermelons? (the children who like them will raise their hands)
What does a watermelon taste (or look) like? (children can describe the watermelon -- sweet, juicy, etc)
Where do you like to eat watermelons? (camping, the beach, at home, etc)
When do you like to eat watermelons? (when it's summer, when it's hot, etc)
Why do you like to eat watermelons? (juicy, like spitting out the seeds, etc)

Gentleness
A gentle word turns away anger - Proverbs
Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured each step of the way.
