Mulvenna, McIlvenna are anglicisations of this Irish name, meaning descended from a devotee of the Main

MULVENNA, McILVENNA (and other variants) are Irish surnames once found more or less exclusively around the Glenarm area of Co. Antrim. There are now MULVENNAs and McILVENNAs living in many places around the world, but as the name is relatively uncommon, MULVENNAs and McILVENNAs usually find that their surname is unique in their own area.
