The group supports the ministry of lay speakers within the Mississippi River District of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church. It is operated by the district Lay Speaking Team primarily as a means of sharing information rapidly with the lay speakers in our district.

Calendar:
Next Basic Course: specifics are still being planned. Class size is limited to 12. Cost: $35. (Checks would be made out to IGRC with MRD Lay speaking in the memo line.) Classes generally last for 8 Sundays, 2-5 pm.

Tentatively:

Summer, 2009: Troy UMC. We hope to plan this summer class to especially meet the needs of high school and college youth interested in becoming lay speakers. Lead faculty: Donna Massey, Susan Busler & Karen Vollmar.

Fall, 2009: St John UMC Edwardsville. Lead faculty: Dr. David Kueker & Judy Miller.

Spring, 2010: Shiloh UMC. Lead faculty: Dr. David Kueker & Judy Miller.
