MPD-5D : Messages : 7288-7317 of 15815

I was hoping to see some information on it here.  Massive police presence on
Bryant street (300 block NE) Friday night around 10:30 pm.  Blocked off the
street for several block.  Seems to have originated on 4th street then onto
Bryant.  What happened?  (As you probably know there is a lot of "activity" on
that block).  And any and all police effort is appreciated.

Dear MPD, The list of arrests used to be sorted by PSA, with 501 always being @ the top, and descending in order. I've noticed lately that it is no longer sorted in this order, and appears to be sorted by PSA with the most arrests. For example today, PSA 504 is first, with 3 arrests, followed by PSA 501 with 2, and so on. Is this a new format?

My neighbor was assaulted with a knife on 10th street right near Rhode Island in front of the apartment building. Fortunately, she screamed and pushed the assailant away and was able to run away and a found a couple further down 10th street who escorted her home (12th and Gerard).

She called the police. A squad car picked her up and drove around the block twice looking for the assailant. They then asked her "do you want to pursue this, he technically didn't threaten you." Is this the most we can expect from our police? This comes less than a year after my wife's life was threatened in front of our two small children in North Michigan Park. The police responded a day later and said they had no reason to arrest the man.

Will any follow up be done on this?

Mr Hutson, I just reviewed an email you sent in reference to your neighbor who was assaulted at 10th and RI Ave. The incident appears to have been handled in a manner not consistent with the level of service I expect from my officers.

I would like to have contact information for your neighbor so that I can interview her and take the appropriate steps necessary to correct the lack of service she received. Please call or email me directly with her information if you have a contact number for her. My number is 202 698 0111.

I will also research the incident from this end to find contact info for her as well.

Census. So I though I would chime in. For full disclosure I don't work for the
census bureau but I have applied to take part in the door to door operation
later this year. I want to participate because as a social scientist I have used
census data for my research. I think census data are an invaluable tools for
policy makers as well as the private sector to provide better services to
people. Census data are also used to distribute seats in congress but
unfortunately in DC that does not affect us. Anyway, here is 3 important things
to know:

1. The best source of information about the Census is the official website here:
http://2010.census.gov/2010census/<http://2010.census.gov/2010census/> Most of
the info I will provide next come from there. I particularly advise people to
read the section entitled "The Whole story". It is basically answers to the most
frequently asked questions.

2. The best way of not having to wonder whether the person knocking on your door
is from the Census is to fill the census form and mail it back. Only household
whose form are not complete will get a personal visit. The form will be sent in
March and census taker will knock on doors of people who have not mailed in the
form between April and July 2010. If people come to your house before that time
and say they are with the 2010 Census they are scammers.

3. The census has only 10 questions. They deal with Name, Sex, Age, Date of
birth, Hispanic origin, Race, Household relationship, If you own or rent and the
number of people in your household. A preview of the official form is available

v/2010census/how/interactive-form.php>.  Unlike the previous census forms, none
of the questions have to do with your financial situation.

May be ANC comissioners should consider adressing frequently asked Census

Does anyone know what was going on at the 14th and Rhode Island Laundromat this morning at around 9AM? There were 6-10 law enforcement vehicles with flashing lights and a lot of activity by personnel wearing FBI "raid jackets" in the parking lot and inside the laundromat. What was going on. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I saw some police activity, possibly an arrest, while I was driving by on the 2000 blk of Perry St NE on 1/24/10 around 1 pm. Can anyone clarify if there was a crime on this block/day? I checked the arrest book, and no one was arrested in the below
listed area. However, I did find out that there was a mental health matter that
required police attention. I will be working until 9:30 PM tonight. We are
expecting 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow morning. If you have to go anywhere during

A televised event will be happening at the Wilson Building on February 13, 2010 at 10:00 am

This is an event is for the, youth only. Council Chairman, Vincent Gray is asking that all Community leaders spread the word by informing while encouraging the youth to attend this important meeting.

The Council wants to know directly from the youth, what is on their minds and how the city can help.

Each young person will have 3 minutes each to speak, as this will be televised, live on Channel 13.
