(The Metropolitan
Police needs your assistance! Help us identify and apprehend the Perpetrator(s)
before you’re a victim.)
To assist the
police in combating this problem, we strongly urge you to Practice Good Personal Safety At All Times.
Additionally, we suggest that you:
- Make sure your drapes remain
closed when you are away from home.
- Secure windows with a keyed
locking device to prevent raising window from outside.
- Reinforce door frames and door
locks to prevent prying.
- Be on the alert for suspicious
vehicles parking on your streets.
- Look out for individuals
loitering in your neighborhood with no apparent destination; unknown
individuals peering in vehicles, yards or homes; individuals offering to
do random repair work or any person (s) you do not recognize or who may be
acting strangely.
If you observe this type of activity, IMMEDIATELY CALL THE POLICE.
Please dial 911 for
all crimes in progress or life-threatening emergencies, and suspicious
activity. (Please be prepared to give the call taker a clear description
of the individual, the type of suspicious activity and the individuals last
known location.)
Further, we
encourage you and your neighbors to adopt the buddy system and look out for
each other. Get to know the neighbors on your block and familiarize
yourself with their arrivals and departures. This is also an excellent
time to form or reactivate an Orange Hat / Neighborhood Watch on your
block. For information on prevention programs available from the 4th
District, please contact your PSA Official.
