We
have another chance to add hours to our "Return the Favor"
submission!!!!
The
deadline has been extended to December 15!
I am
confident that there are more Missouri JCI Senators out there making a
difference to their Jaycee chapters!
If
you have not submitted your hours to me, please either reply to this
e-mail or complete the attached form! This is for the time period of September-October-November,
2009.
Did
you help with a Halloween project? Did you provide some training at a
chapter, region or state meeting?
Did
you provide some advice to a new Jaycee?
Please
let me know if you have ANY questions at all! I just want to be sure we
have an accurate recording of hours!!!!!
The 2009 MO-KAN Football Weekend event was held during the weekend of November
27-29, 2009, in Kansas city. Not only did we do the 3rd annual MU-KU football
weekend but the MO JCI Senate held their annual holiday party at the same time.
It seemed to really work well. Everybody had a great time.
We hosted more than 50 people at this year's event, including, Mo JCI Senators,
US JCI Senate guest, old timers, guests and kids. The hotel was just right for
us. We were able to just about take over the facilities and make it work for
us.
The annual tailgate party turned into a pre-game courtyard party, with the
weather being beautiful. We had Bar B Que burnt-ends, hot dogs and sausage.
the holiday party featured a catered Italian pasta dinner, and featured a visit
from Santa and a white elephant gift exchange.
All in all everybody said they had a great time. There was plenty of food,
drinkand great fellowship to be had by all.
I want to thank everyone who attended and especially the operating committee:
Bill and Lea Ann Smith, Vince and Kathy Saladino, Jim Pendleton Jr., Bill
Chapman, Jodi Ktantz, Bev Mosnick, Faye Page and Joe jekel. Lea Ann Smith, Jim
Pendleton and I co-chaired this year's event.
Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.
Please take some time to enjoy life and all it brings and especially the reason
for the season.
Blessings

The
deadline for the second quarter submission for “Return the Favor” is
tomorrow, Monday, November 30 and I need your help!
Please
submit your "Return the Favor" hours to me today, if you have
not turned them in already! I need to have all hours by tomorrow morning,
Monday, November 30. You may either send an e-mail or send the attached
form to me. This submission should include projects/hours for
September, October, and November, 2009. (If you have hours to submit from
the first quarter, please also send those to me.)
Also,
since I am not attending your projects and neither is the RTF National
Chairman, the project description is very important. Please elaborate on
how you assisted the chapter, remembering that IMPACT should be a major
focus. Another suggestion is to ask the chapter president or program
manager or state president to write a letter or e-mail explaining the impact
the Senators had. These items will help me when I have to write the
narrative for our report to the National Program Manager.
I
have already asked several Senators to write a letter or paragraph regarding
impact. If I have asked you, I would like those by November 30 also.
This
year all Senators are eligible to submit their RTF hours so even if you are
Jaycee-age, please submit your hours.
If
in doubt whether or not your hours should be submitted, please submit them to
me! Your explanation of the project and impact will be key influencing
factors.
Please
call or e-mail me with any questions or comments at any time regarding this
information.

If you have any difficulty accessing the newsletter,
please email me and I can send it to you directly. Note that the .pdf

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did putting it
together.
At
this time of the year, at the beginning of all of the glorious holidays and the
wonderful spirit of the season, I always enjoy thinking about how blessed I am,
and we all are.
We
should take some time, away from the hustle and bustle, to stop and think about,
and appreciate the many gifts we have been given, including the most precious,
of friendship and freedom, while enjoying our warm and cozy surroundings
accompanied by family and dear friends.
I
hope that you will all take the time today to recognize and appreciate all of
these wonderful gifts and give thanks for them.
Plz change my e-mail to joe_floyd@.... As I am no longer at Image Technologies. Some of you may already know the business was sold in July. My duties were greatly reduced since there was a corporate accounting dept.
Today I was told by corporate HR that I was not needed at all.
So Lori (newsletter editor) however you change the group listing Plz do.
I will see some of you this weekend & we will talk more.
The Christmas
Season begins this week with Thanksgiving. Next Weekend will be a big one
for the Missouri JCI Senate. It will be our annual Christmas Party and
Goodie Contest all wrapped together with the University of Missouri Tigers vs.
the Kansas Wildcats football game. Since the latest issue of the Senate
Newsletter has been late in coming, I wanted to send out a reminder if anyone
may have missed the communications that have been sent out and still wanted to
go.
We are now
past all of the registration and ticket deadlines but there is still a good
time that can be had if you still want to. You may not still be able to get
game tickets and you may have difficulty getting a room in the hotel, but if
you still want to go, give it a shot. You may still be able to attend the
hospitality and parties, but at last-minute premium prices. If you don’t
already have reservations, check with the chairmen on remaining availability.
For those of you already registered, I wanted to include the last-minute details
that have been sent out, in case you had missed them.
I have attached
2 documents: the flyer / registration forms for the Football Weekend
& Christmas Party; and the flyer / entry form for the “Christmas
Goodie Contest”.

The game
time for the KU-MU game has been announced today. The game will start
at 2:30pm and will be televised by ABC (Channel 9 in KC).
We still
have a small number of tickets remaining for the game. If you, or
another Senator in your area, are interested in these tickets, please let me
know as soon as possible. Tickets will be distributed at the hotel when
you arrive.
We would
again like to reiterate that people do not need a game ticket to participate
in the other activities during the weekend. We hope you and your fellow
Senators from your area will join us for this fun filled weekend.

Subject: KU-MU Game Start Time
Our tickets
have arrived for the big game on November 28th. Tickets are in Section
114, Rows 15-17. As we have done in the past, we will distribute these
to you at the hotel when you arrive. So look me up when you get in.
We still
have a few tickets left in the group allotment. These are $60 each, so
if you are still interested, get with me quickly. If you know of other
Senators in your area that might be looking for tickets to this event, please
forward this info to them.
We did this
last year, and I can offer this again for this year's game. If anyone
is looking for a premium ticket opportunity, we have a few tickets left in
our suite for the game as well. We are in a different suite this year
(242R), although not far from the one we had been in before. Our price
for these tickets is $225 each, which includes your game ticket, reserved
parking, club level access, and all food & drink during the game.
With the ongoing renovations, particularly in the club level, the Chiefs
really hiked up the price of club level tickets even for other events, so
this has affected our total cost. Again, if you or someone you know
might be interested in this opportunity, please let me know ASAP.
We are
looking forward to seeing everyone in KC later this month. It is not
too late to register for the Holiday Party or weekend hospitality being held
in conjunction with the game. You do not need to be going to the
game to take advantage of these other activities. Please pass this info
on to other Senators in your area who might not be on our e-mail lists,
particularly those on the west side of the state, and our Kansas Senate
friends as well.
If you have
any questions, please contact me by e-mail, or by phone at (913)

MO-KAN Football Weekend November 27-29, 2009
Dear
Senators
We are
coming up on the deadlines for registering for the 2009 MO-KAN Football
weekend. And, as most of you know, by now, the Missouri JCI Senate is
holding their annual holiday social at the same time. The reasoning for
this is that it will save traveling for another weekend and taking advantage
of the great $49 dollar room rate that we have in KC.
This
year’s headquarters hotel will be the Guest House Park Place, located
at 16 01 N Universal in Kansas City. The registration number is 816 483
9900. Mention you want the JC Foundation or the Knucklehead Saloon rate
of $49 per night. Please note that after October 15, 2009 the rooms
will be on an As-is basis. The hotel will fill up due to all the
festivities happening that weekend in the city. So please do not
wait until the last minute to reserve a room.
The
football weekend activities have been merged with the annual holiday party
this year. The registration fee for the entire weekend, including
Friday evening hospitality, two continental breakfasts, the great pr-game
party and the holiday party dinner is only $35 per person. We have
packed a lot of fun and fellowship into one great weekend. Registrations
received after November 15, 2009 will be $45. Please do not
procrastinate. Registration forms are available on the
MOJCISenate.org web page calendar.
If you want
to go to the game on Saturday, Jim still has some tickets. If you
have not paid for your tickets please get with Jim and get that done ASAP.
Please note
that you do not have to be going to the game to enjoy the weekend. We
plan to have the game on in the hospitality room on the big screen.
And, for those of you who may not be interested in the game, There will be a
lot of other things to do. The hotel is only about 10 minutes from the
Power & Light District and 20 minutes from the famous Country Club Plaza.
Please note
that Lea Ann Smith is chairing the Holiday party. She has plans for a
great Italian meal and some special festivities. There will be a gift
exchange and recipe contest and plans for a special visitor for all the good
boys and girls.
Jim, Lea
Ann and I have done our best to plan a great social experience for all of you
attending this year’s event. There will be great food and drink,
great fellowship and great fun. All we need to make it a complete
success is for YOU to attend. So please, if you are planning to attend,
call and make your room reservation right now, download the registration
form, complete it and mail it with you fees.

Thank You’ for your past generosity and your understanding of supporting the Junior Chamber Movement through the U.S. Jaycees Foundation.
With your help, we continue to support the U. S. Junior Chamber Local Chapters and its members with financial grants that help fund the Local Presidents Summit/Leadership Academy, the Board of Directors Retreat and a Chapter Assistance Program. We are particularly proud of our association with the State Presidents Summit/Leadership Academy where State President’s and up to 200 local presidents and state leaders from across the United States get together in Tulsa in January for
a very unique training opportunity.
We continue to actively educate U. S. Junior Chamber members and alumni about the purpose of the Foundation. As a result, a greater number of Jaycees and Jaycee alumni have become members of the Foundation. The Hall of Leadership Program continues to recognize many Jaycee Alumni for their continued contributions to society beyond their Jaycee years.
The U.S. Jaycees Foundation is funded solely by donations from people like you. We know you receive many solicitations for donations. As you make your charitable decisions this year, please remember what impact your favorite project had on your community. We’re sure you will agree that your involvement in the Jaycees provided you with many meaningful memories of the projects you worked on and the friendships that still exist today.
Your gift is vitally important to providing those same opportunities today, as we work to provide support for the U. S. Junior Chamber movement, programs and training through the Foundation. With your gift, you help support critical services to Junior Chamber members and chapters throughout the country.
At this time, we are compiling information for a “Foundation Contributors” plaque to be displayed in the U. S. Junior Chamber Headquarters in Tulsa. Would you please help us by insuring we have an accurate report of your total amount of contributions over the years? Please let us know either by phone to Sheri at the Headquarters at 1-800-529-2337 ext 441 or include a note with this year’s contribution. We want to make sure that we do not miss anyone and that we have you in the
right gifting category.
Thank you again for your help in achieving the Foundations mission:

Hello all, I've gotten several e-mails wanting to know how I'm doing 'post surgery' so I'll update all of you. I've been home for 10 days and everything seems to be going according to plans. My progress has been slow but steady, with the exception of the blow out of the lowest insertion point, and the icky-poo ooze of surgery aftermath that usually goes into a drain and is reabsorbed back into the body. I left the hospital much earlier than usual and so had my drain removed much earlier. That happened the first Saturday morning. I went to the bathroom and noticed that my white surgical binder (girdle) had turned pink. It was obvious that I had a problem. I called my surgeons on-call doctor and he told me not to worry as long as the discharge was that pale pink I had seen in my drain bottle in the hospital. He said it would go away in a few days, and it has dried up.
I've almost completed the second stage of my recovery program, 6, pardon the expression, meals a day with 4 oz of milk, broth or yogurt with 10-15 grams of whey protein. Yummy! But really not as bad as it sounds.
Wednesday 11/04 I go to stage three, pureed food (baby food). As long as it's pureed I can have soft scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and other soft food in addition to baby food. I have been told that the baby food meat is better than trying to puree something myself. It's gotta be better than what I'm doing now.
I go in to see my primary care doctor in a couple of days for lab work and changes in medicine. I was taking almost 20 different medications and now I'm down to three. My Insulin use is less than one quarter of what I used prior to the operation. I do have a box full of vitamins, which I'll have to take for the rest of my life since my altered digestive tract can't provide for my needs. I see my surgeon the following week. I'm gaining strength, not quite up to wrestling wildcats, maybe kittens or a small cat. I'll close for now. Thanks again for the e-mails, cards and phone calls; they are appreciated. See you in Kissimmee! Ron
Sorry if you get this more than once, I'm using multiple address group lists.

"Membership Has Its
Privileges" Vest, Backpacks, Pins and Senate Shirts are all available now
Senators......this
year we have snappy looking fleece vests to add to our wardrobe of Senate
clothing. The vests are bright gold with the Missouri JCI Senate logo on
one side and the 2009-10 motto - "Membership Has Its Privileges" on
the other. The price of the vests is a little higher than we originally
expected, but still worth the money. Here is an updated cost chart:
S-XL=$35, 2XL=$38, 3XL=$40, 4XL=$42, 5XL=$45, 6XL=$48.
For
$27, you can add the matching gold and black Backpack, also with the
embroidered Missouri JCI Senate Logo and motto. Pictures
of the backpack and vest are attached.
Boni's
new gold pin is available now for $3 each.
And
of course, the black golf shirts are still available. These prices have
not changed: S-XL=$32, 2XL=$34, 3XL=$36, 4XL=$38. Senate Number
embroidered on the right sleeve is included. For an additional $4, we can
have your Name, Senate Number and a Title embroidered on the left chest (replaces
the Senate Number embroidery on the right sleeve.)
If
you are interested in any or all items please send an email to maryearl@... or call Mary Sawyer
at 636-861-1547. Delivery of any and all items will be at the next
function, the MU/KU Game/Holiday Party, so get your orders in by November
10th. I will be out of the country starting November 7th so it would be
best if you ordered before the deadline so that I don't miss an email due to being
on the other side of the globe.
The
items can be mailed, if you won't be at this event, and are looking to order
for a Christmas gift. Postage should be no more than $6 for the shirts
and vests and $2 for the pins. Of course, the more you order the more you
save!!

The famous ceremony, which began as 16 lights hung over a doorway, now includes over 80 miles of lights with 280,000 multi-colored bulbs outlining and illuminating the buildings and towers of the Country Club Plaza.
Tour Missouri Wineries without even leaving the hotel, find out what wine goes best with your pasta dinner… oh yeah Pasta dinner choose from Lasagna, Creamy Chicken Alfredo, Meaty Marinara, Bacon Rotini Mac and Cheese, along with bread sticks and a salad.
Then for Dessert enjoy the Christmas Goodies, be sure to submit your favorite Christmas goodie for the contest. They will be judged on appearance and taste by judges and people’s choice.
After that bring your favorite “White Elephant” for the gift exchange. Santa will start off the gift giving for the good boys and girls, the rest of you will follow later.
And if that’s not enough, it’s also the weekend of the Missouri and Kansas rivalry. You can go to the game, or sit in the comfort of the hospitality room and watch it on T.V.

MO-KAN Football Weekend
Dear Senators
We are coming up on the deadlines for registering for the 2009 MO-KAN Football
weekend. And, as most of you know, by now, the Missouri JCI Senate is holding
their annual holiday social at the same time. The reasoning for this is that it
will save traveling for another weekend and taking advantage of the great $49
dollar room rate that we have in KC.
This year's headquarters hotel will be the Guest House Park Place, located at 16
01 N Universal in Kansas City. The registration number is 816 483 9900.
Mention you want the JC Foundation or the Knucklehead Saloon rate of $49 per
night. Please note that after October 15, 2009 the rooms will be on an As-is
basis. The hotel will fill up due to all the festivities happening that weekend
in the city. So please do not wait until the last minute to reserve a room.
The football weekend activities have been merged with the annual holiday party
this year. The registration fee for the entire weekend, including Friday
evening hospitality, two continental breakfasts, the great pr-game party and the
holiday party dinner is only $35 per person. We have packed a lot of fun and
fellowship into one great weekend. Registrations received after November 15,
2009 will be $45. Please do not procrastinate. Registration forms are
available on the MOJCISenate.org web page calendar.
If you want to go to the game on Saturday, Jim still has some tickets. If you
have not paid for your tickets please get with Jim and get that done ASAP.
Please note that you do not have to be going to the game to enjoy the weekend.
We plan to have the game on in the hospitality room on the big screen. And, for
those of you who may not be interested in the fame, There will be a lot of other
things to do. The hotel is only about 10 minutes from the Power & Light
District and 20 minutes from the famous Country Club Plaza.
Please note that Lea Ann Smith is chairing the Holiday party. She has plans for
a great Italian meal and some special festivities. There will be a gift
exchange and recipe contest and plans for a special visitor for all the good
boys and girls.
Jim, Lea Ann and I have done our best to plan a great social experience for all
of you attending this year's event. There will be great food and drink, great
fellowship and great fun. All we need to make it a complete success is for YOU
to attend. So please, if you are planning to attend, call and make your room
reservation right now, download the registration form, complete it and mail it
with you fees.
If there any questions feel free to call:

"Good evening, fellow Senators! I hope
everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall weather we're having in Missouri
(except my empathy goes out to those of you who have had way too much rain !!!).
Its once again time and I will be publishing the next issue of the Missouri
Senate Newsletter, "Passport To Adventure".
We've had a great first quarter with all indications that
the rest of the year will continue to be great, one of the best we’ve
ever had. I’d like to hear about your experiences, ideas and items
of interest to the rest of the Senators. “Membership Has Its
Privileges” and one of them is the opportunity for your thought and ideas
to be published. How about writing an article for the coming issue of “Passport
to Adventure”? How about writing one this week ? I
would like to receive articles no later than Sunday, October 11.
If you have some pictures of our events or “Returning
The Favor”, send them along. I’ll publish as many as I have
room for. It would be nice to have some pictures showing good friends,
good times and our accomplishments. Be sure and include a short story.
President Boni's theme this is "Membership Has Its
Privileges". I’m having a great time as Newsletter Editor and
Communications Chairman and “I’m still excited" about it. By
now, you’re probably all tired of hearing from me, but the year will be
over before we realize it. Let’s continue to try very hard to bring
interest, enthusiasm and excitement to our activities, projects, communications
and pass it along to all the Missouri Senators.
If I’ve tweaked your interest to submit something for
the newsletter, but you can't make it by the deadline, drop me a line by
email. I will begin working on the newsletter on Monday, October
12. I can reserve a space for your article. Since we have limited
space to keep the mailing within the budget, when articles are received at the
last minute, I may need to shorten or fit them in as well as possible to fit in
the available space. Be sure to include any flyers or advertisements that
you have put together for your projects and activities.
If you prefer, you may send me a list of facts, details
and the theme and I can write the article for you.
If you have a special recipe, tip or would like to tell
us about your hobby or collection, share it with other Missouri Senators by sending
along something to publish.
We will soon be proudly celebrating the 35th
anniversary of the Missouri JCI Senate. We all have accomplished
much, done a lot for the state, the community, Camp Wonderland and countless
other causes. We have made great friends for life and enjoyed many years
with those friends. Now it is time to recount those years, look back with
pride, and celebrate our history and all those who have been a part of it and
made this all possible.
In order to bring our celebration to as many Senators as
possible, and accommodate your interests and wishes , we have created a survey
to gather your opinions so that we may know better how you would like to
celebrate this historic milestone. We have included both .doc and .rtf
formats for those of you without MS Word.
Please complete the attached survey and mail or email it
to either Mary Sawyer #43930 maryearl@...
or Ed Hart #28991 jci28991@...,
Program Managers of the Missouri JCI Senate 35th Anniversary
Celebration.
We would like to get a completed questionnaire from
all Senators by November 1, 2009. Please take a few minutes when
you open this email and return the questionnaire by email today.
Thanks in advance and we look forward to hearing from all of
you !!!
Final weekend to register for Food for Fall Camp Corp Weekend.
I want to make sure I have plenty to feed you and keep you happy.
Thanks
Barb

Sikeston Jaycees are holding a Haunted Hayride on October 23rd, 24th and 30th. They are requesting help from other chapters for this event. I went last year and it was a ton of fun! The hayride will be at the Sikeston Jaycee Rodeo Grounds. They need people throughout the grounds to scare the hayriders. Makeup will be available, but you will need to bring your own costume/clothes. The Haunted Hayride runs from 8pm to 11pm each night and they want the workers there by 7pm. If you are able to assist, please call Chris Deen at 573-380-7213
