Last night on the Springfield news a young homeschool lady signed with Drury.
Maybe someone out there has more information so we can have another resource to
use to inform our sceptic athlitic friends.

GET TO JEFFERSON CITY on Thursday, May 14, 2009. We MUST show up . This is YOUR
homeschool freedom at stake.
YIKES, homeschool law is under attack, EMERGENCY FHE Rally in Jefferson City at
1pm on Thursday, May 14, 2009 YES, THURSDAY!
I have also enclosed the official announcement from HSLDA and FHE regarding this
EMERGENCY rally.

expense. My kids & I are headed to Jefferson City on May 14, 2009. We need 5000

FROM HSLDA & FHE:
Missouri--Emergency Rally Tomorrow, May 14 in Jefferson City--Urgent!
HSLDA Members and Friends,
We urgently need your attendance at a rally tomorrow on the steps of
the Capitol in Jefferson City at 1 p.m. to stop an extremely serious
threat that has emerged with literally no warning. There is no time
for phone calls or emails to be effective. We need thousands of
homeschoolers physically present tomorrow!
This dramatic threat would massively increase government control over
homeschooling. Every homeschooled child (except those in St. Louis
City)--whether 16, 17, 18, 19, or 20-- would be subject to compulsory
school attendance until they could prove to the state's satisfaction
that they had completed "sixteen credits towards high school
graduation."
This would suddenly give the state power to control and define what a
homeschool "credit" is. It would immediately give the state power to
control what is required for homeschool graduation. This would
destroy liberty for homeschoolers in Missouri on an unprecedented
scale and cause unimaginable problems.
ACTION REQUESTED
We need 5,000 homeschoolers tomorrow at 1 p.m. on the steps of the
Capitol in Jefferson City to send a message: VOTE NO ON S.B. 291. Car
pool if possible to make parking easier for others. Forward this to
other homeschoolers.
BACKGROUND
The legislature closes this Friday. This bill could be voted on late
Thursday or Friday. S.B. 291 posed no threat to homeschoolers until it
was very recently amended to add the credit and graduation provision.
Immediate action is required. Families for Home Education (FHE) joins
HSLDA in calling for this rally. Brad Haines of FHE will lead the
rally.
This is our hour of need. Can you set everything else aside for
freedom and be ready in a minute, like the minutemen of old?
Thank you for standing with us for freedom!
Sincerely,
Scott Woodruff
Dear HSLDA members and friends,
The rally at the capitol steps scheduled for 1 PM tomorrow, May 14, is
definitely on!
This rally is being jointly called by FHE and HSLDA, who are working
together closely on this urgent issue. If you receive information from
any other person or organization, it may not be reliable.
I have heard a report of an individual who sent out an email supposedly
referring to "3 homeschool lobbyists." This email did not come from,
nor was it authorized by, FHE or HSLDA. To the extent this email
conflicts with information FHE and HSLDA have distributed, I urge you to
disregard it.
Update: there is a chance the bill will be amended tomorrow to remove
the harm to homeschoolers. But it is not certain. We need you at the
rally more than ever to convince lawmakers that the bill must be
defeated or amended!
Please come to the rally as FHE and HSLDA have urged. Your presence is
essential to prevent a attack on your liberty.
Sincerely Yours,
Scott A. Woodruff, HSLDA Staff Attorney

For grades K-9, Evangel Univ. offers a great environment for students to improve
their skills in their favorite sport. Many sports, many dates and
options...check it out at www.evangel.edu/camps
In the past, I know that athletes from that area have participated in the KC
East program. I'm not aware of any new programs around Warrensburg.
I don't have any personal experience with public school athletics, but I do know
that they will require dual enrollment, at the very least. I know of one family
that went this route and ended up having to enroll full time.

Hey there athletes, and their moms!!
I have a 7th grade/13 yr old, and an 8th grade/14 yr old who both want
to run track this spring. Is the KC East Lions team the closest one to
us in the Warrensburg/ Whiteman Air Force Base area?
Have any of you ever played sports at your local public school? How did
that work? Our local public school is being difficult.
Thanks for any tips you have. Nik

SCAC will hold football camp on August 6, 7, and 8 at Trinity Learning
Ctr in Neosho (2 miles south of Wal-Mart on Hwy 59). This is a good
opportunity to see what football will be like for the season and learn
some basics of the game. If you know someone who might be interested
but isn't sure, this is the time to give it a try.
No equipment will be necessary; athletes should wear cleats or
athletic shoes, t-shirts, and shorts or wind pants. Please bring
water and sunscreen. There will be no fee.
For more info, call Brent Jay at 417-389-1174 or 417-364-4882.
Southwestern Christian Athletic Club will be holding football camp
June 2nd-5th at 9:00am at Trinity Learning Center in Neosho (about 2
miles south of Wal-mart across from the Neosho airport on Hwy 59).
All homeschool or Christian school athletes, ages 12-18, who are
interested in playing football this fall or are curious about the
basics of the sport are encouraged to attend. Athletes need to wear
comfortable workout clothing (shorts and a t-shirt, etc.) and cleats
or tennis shoes.

Hi All!
My sons have been taking lessons at Sunset Trails in Lee's Summit for
months and I asked the other day about starting a homeschool group and
they were really excited. I thought I would send a note to see if
anyone is interested. It would be 6-weeks for one hour and will cost
$79 for the entire thing. It is really a great price because we pay a
lot more for weekly one hour sessions! Please feel free to email me

Is there anyone who would be interested in starting a 6-man or 8-man,
high school and/or junior high, tackle football program.
There are a handful of 8-man teams in Missouri now. There are 8-man
teams in Springfield, Kansas City, and Blue Eye. Our team in Neosho
has played 8-man for two years but might be better suited for 6-man.
There is the possibility of additional 6-man teams in Seneca,
Carthage, and Cassville next season.
If you are interested in discussing the details of starting a team
please let me know.
Thanks,
Brent Jay

I was able to get in contact with a 4-H group by contacting the local
extension office. They have a website, but I'm afraid I don't know
what it is. Hope this helps. This was in the Buffalo area.

SCAC is going to hold a football mini-camp next week in Neosho. We'll
meet Thu & Fri nights from 6:00-8:00pm and Sat morning from
9:30am-12:30pm. If you're interested in attending or have questions
about SCAC's 8-man football program, please call Brent Jay at

Kimberly,
Well there is a new group starting up around the Bolivar area for sports SACH
and Springfield has several homeschool sports groups.www.springfieldknights.com
the eagles the chargers and I am sure there are a few others. I am not
familiar with any homeschool scouting groups but I am sure they are out there.
If I come across a contact group I will send it to you. As far as the Spanish,
cooking there are several co op classes one great resource to find stuff is
www.shemonline.org there are several different resources, field trips, events
and such on this web site. Good luck in your ventures. Please let me know if you
have any other questions I might be able to help out with. It is exciting and
scary at the same time I know and understand. However I can assure you that
there are so many opportunities here and our are on my opinion is very
homeschool friendly.
Blessings

Hello,
We were thinking Bolivar, but found a deal of a home in Springfield. My
husbands family just moved down to Ozark and we have been looking in that
area as well. So really, we dont know!!!! We anticipate putting our home
up for sale in the next month and trying to move down by August. I will
keep everyone posted. This is a little off topic, but do any of you belong
to the Homeschool Scouting program? We are very involved with the Scouts
and would like to stay in a Homeschool group. Also, I notice there are many
coops around Springfield. If any of you are involved in ones that involve
PE, Art, Music, Spanish, Cooking, etc would you let me know of ones maybe I
had not seen online.
Thanks

welcome,
There are a lot of great opportunities for sports and other group
activities. We are parents to Kellsey 14 she is a basketball junky and Kaleb
12 he plays football. Do you know the general area of Missouri you will be
moving and we can give more specifics as to what that area offers.

Hi,
My name is Kim and I want to just introduce myself and my family. We
are hoping to move to the area by this summer, YEAH!!! We have 5 very
active children that play in all sorts of sports. We want to get the
in scoop of when to sign up and what to sign up for so we dont have to
sit out and wait another year. My oldest has been a member of the
Junior High Homeschool team here in Michigan for two years now and does
not want to miss Basketball once we move. We love all sports and have
children ranging from 2 to 14. Looking forward to hearing all the news
for Missouri!!
God Bless
