A COMMUNITY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ADOPTED THROUGH MAPS WORLDWIDE
At MAPS, we know that adoption is not an end but a beginning. For children, adoption involves an ongoing process of identity formation and of integrating their pasts into their new lives with their adoptive families. As parents, we want to support our children during this process and may find a need for information and resources in order to understand and support our children as they grow from childhood to adolescence to young adulthood.

This e-group will enable MAPS families to learn from each other's experiences and share insights and experiences regardless of where they live. The topic-centered format will help parents explore specific aspects of raising adopted children and provide the opportunity to learn from other parents who have "been there, done that."

Each topic, chosen by our clinical staff, will last for one month to allow time for members to respond and participate.

This is primarily a parent-to-parent forum. If you would like some guidance or support from one of our adoption social workers, please call us at 207-775-4101 and a staff member can speak with you privately.

Group guidelines:
1) You must be 18 years old to join this group.
2) This group is only for parents who have adopted through MAPS.
3) Comments should relate to the topic at hand.
4) Confidentiality is critical so that all members feel comfortable sharing thoughts and questions. Please do not repost or repeat anything that is shared in this group.
5) Please be respectful of others' opinions. This is not a debate group, but a forum for learning and support.
6) We welcome suggestions from our members about future monthly topics.
