This only took about 6 weeks for them to make their mind up and confirm
that which I was reasonably sure about.
UK owners, why do we have to put up with the DVLA?
What did we do to deserve them?
Did we murder lots of people for this to be a cruel punishment?
I think not
Approx 7 weeks ago I noticed a paragraph on the back of a document about
black & white number plates and only cars registered before xxx date.
Queried it with them and their answer (same as back of paperwork) differed
to their web site.
The kicker is the "clever person" (note to self do not call them an idiot)
who sent this to me has read the complaint, looked at the web site, looked
at the mail they originally sent me and still B*****d it up. The web site
was right it seems, the paper they sent and the email they sent we wrong,
but Alun here apologises for the web site being wrong.
You guys in the US and other places should count yourselves very lucky you
don't have the DVLA to contend with.
I think I'll wind them up a bit more now.........

Thank you for your e-mail.
I am sorry for the confusion that previous advice from the Driver and
Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has caused you. I can confirmt that vehicles
constructed or manufactured before 1st January 1973 may display traditional
style "black and white" plates, i.e. white, silver or grey characters on a
black plate.
I have noted your comments about the information on the DVLA website about
number plates. DVLA are committed to providing good customer service which
includes providing an informative, accurate and up-to-date website. Steps
will be taken to ensure that the relevant information will be corrected at
the next available opprotunity.
Regards
Alun Griffiths
