Hello everyone!!!
Happy Monday, and Happy October! I'm amazed at how fast the time is slipping
away. It seems summer had just gotten here, and now it's gone! (And I'm
freezing!)

For anyone interested, you can now check out my webpage update. You might have
to refresh your page to see it. http://www.lorifoster.com There are new excerpts
for my upcoming Oct, Nov, and Jan books, new covers, and an awesome contest that
I hope lots of people will enter!

If you move your mouse over the WILD (Zane Winston) step-back cover, you can see
naked Zane on the inside. <woo hoo!>

And be sure to check out the contest! I need to add a few clarifiers to it, but
it's basically set. If you decide to use the available link to order a *very*
sexy calendar from our incredible firefighters, please be sure to put "ROMANCE
READER" on your order.

Many people have been putting it where it asks for a company name, or between
their first and last name. I want everyone to understand how wonderful and
supportive romance readers are. After all, we ARE the best!

Also, there are two other contests I want you to be aware of, because both are
offering my books as prizes. <G>

The first is The Road to Romance at http://www.roadtoromance.dhs.org
I was just author of the month at The Road to Romance, but will have books for
prizes through November.

The other is at the John DeSalvo fan site. (TREAT HER RIGHT has a very sexy John
DeSalvo portraying my character on the cover!)
Here is a brief note from Elizabeth Benway, who runs the site:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Readers are welcome to stop by the John DeSalvo fansite at
http://www.angelfire.com/fl2/ebenway2/Octcontest.html to join the October
contest.
There are some great prizes to be won! Three winners will receive autographed
coverflats from assorted authors. And one lucky grand prize winner will receive
Lori Foster's three book MEN TO THE RESCUE Harlequin series.....autographed.
Contest winners will be chosen on Oct 31. Hope to see you there!
Elizabeth Benway
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That's it for now! I hope you'll consider supporting our brave firemen by
ordering a calendar, and good luck on the contest!

Stay warm, safe, and happy,

Lori

Hello readers,
I feel a little awkward sending out a fun post at such a tragic time.
I debated with myself, but in the end, I decided we all need a small
distraction from this time of incredible hurt, loss and outrage. If
you find this email intrusive, please just delete it. Believe me,
I'll understand.

But if, like me, you'd savor a distraction, then feel free to enter
your name at Road to Romance,
http://www.roadtoromance.dhs.org/authorofthemonth.htm
where I'm currently "Author of the Month," and you may win some free
books, including my current release, Caught in the Act.

{{{Hugs}}} to all my online pals. I hope this email finds you safe
and in the company of loved ones. Be careful, and be strong.

My best to you,

Lori Foster

Hello everyone!
Boy, it's been ages since I've sent out a post, but I've been so
busy. I have all kinds of things I'm working on and I'm just barely
keeping up. Add to that the start of school and vacations... well,
you know how it is. :-)

Thank you to all the new members who've signed up for the newsletter!
I'm amazed at how many people now subscribe.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT is now on stands, so I'm hoping you'll give it a
try. Remember the young man, Mick Dawson, from Beguiled? Well, he's
back, all grown up, and now an undercover cop.

In CAUGHT IN THE ACT, you'll get to visit with characters Dane and
Angel from Beguiled, and Alec and Celia from Wanton. You'll also get
to meet two of Mick's best friends, Zack, a single father and EMT,
and Josh, a ladies' man and firefighter. We're calling this mini-
series "Men to the Rescue" and boy, do they do some heroic things!
Do let me know what you think! Oh, and watch my webpage for
information on a contest. I hope to get it up and running soon. It'll
tie in with a wonderful firefighter's association that sells
calendars full of hunky firemen and benefits a lot of worthwhile
charities. I know romance readers are the most sensitive and kind
people in the world, so I think we're perfect to help them out in
their cause. And to make it more fun, I'll be giving away a LOT of
books!

Anyone in the state of Ohio? How about West Virginia? I have some
booksignings coming up and I'd LOVE to get meet some of you. Here's a

	           EXCERPT

           HOT & BOTHERED ANTHOLOGY
	     St. Martins anthology
	      ISBN: 0-312-97968-1

"Bram?" Her voice emerged as a breathless whisper,
uncertain, a tiny bit frightened. And, if he didn't miss his guess,
tinged with sudden awareness of him as a man. "Why are you here?
What's going on?"
Showing his teeth in what Bram hoped looked more like a grin
rather than a warning, he growled, "Because I missed you, of course."
Then taking her totally by surprise he caught her arms above her
elbows, lifted her to her toes –and kissed her the way he'd been
wanting to kiss her for a very long time.
Her parted lips gave him the advantage, letting his tongue
slip in deep to taste the sweet hot recesses of her mouth and move
lazily along her own tongue. Lust boiled inside him, savage and
hungry – and it was just a kiss.
Bram could only imagine how intense it would feel when it was
his cock sliding into her tender body, when her legs wrapped tight
around his waist and he could fill his hands with her breasts, her
luscious ass. He nearly groaned with the thought, imagining her hot
and wet, thinking how tight she'd be after four long years of
abstinence... His testicles tightened and he did groan, low and raw.
Lucy was obviously stunned by his primal display, but she got
the message loud and clear – just as Bram had intended.

			 * * *
Lucy held her breath, amazed and embarrassed. She felt caught
in a whirlwind, naked and on display, and she didn't understand.
Bram was a friend, practically a member of the family. He'd
never touched her sexually before, but wow – he was touching her now!
Ignoring Bram's kiss was out of the question. It wasn't the
first time he'd ever kissed her, but the others had all been
brotherly pecks and laughing friendship. Never like this. Never so...
carnal.
This was a kiss of possession, a kiss of incredible passion.
She'd never experienced anything like it, even through fifteen years
of marriage, and her heart did two wild flips before settling into a
frantic rhythm of panic, excitement and amazingly enough, response.
Lucy flattened one hand on Bram's chest, wanting to push him away, but
using it for balance instead. The damp cotton of his shirt did
nothing to shield his hot masculine flesh. He felt blistering hot and
wonderfully solid against her palm. She realized he was
coiled tightly, his muscles iron hard and straining, his heartbeat
thumping in a fast gallop that mirrored her own.
The young worker who she'd specifically hired because he'd
flirted with her, cleared his throat loudly. Bram ignored him, which
left her no option but to do the same.
All too aware of the heat of Bram's mouth, his delicious
taste and the overwhelming strength in his muscled body, Lucy tried
to protest. All that emerged was a small sound, barely audible, a
mere whimper that could have been interpreted any number of ways.
Abruptly, Bram released her. Her lips felt swollen and wet,
her body both tight and too soft. She would have fallen down the hill
and tumbled into the lake if Bram hadn't reached back out for her,
throwing one bare, heavily muscled arm around her shoulders and
literally anchoring her to his side. Caught in the cage of his body,
Lucy felt small and defenseless and strangely enough, that feeling
stirred others, rousing emotions she hadn't dealt with in far too
long. Female to male, soft to hard.
The idea of flirting with a stranger had titillated her
senses. Bram's kiss had gone far beyond that. She felt as if she'd
been torched.
Her brain may have turned to mush but her body was working on
full alert.
Lucy shook her head, attempting to regain control so she could
figure out just what it was Bram was doing. Why had he kissed her?
Did he think to somehow warn off the worker by intimating a
nonexistent involvement? To protect her virtue?
Ha. Bram couldn't know that she wanted the indiscriminate fling. She
wanted to feel again, to be alive as a woman, as a sexual being – and
then she'd sell the summer house and get over the past, burying all
the hurt once and for all.
The worker looked at her nervously, as if asking for
instructions. The difference between Bram and the young man she'd
hired was like the difference between an impressive oak and a new
sapling. The younger man was rangy with muscles, lean and toned. But
Bram was solid and thick with layered muscle, large and in his prime.
Overwhelming. He exuded sheer masculinity and iron will.
Lucy wanted to fan her face, still reeling from that kiss.
She used to wonder what
it'd be like to be kissed by the infamous Bram Giles. Shortly into her
marriage, when David had lost interest with teasing and nuzzling and
foreplay, she'd thought of all she knew of Bram, how the women sang
his praises and his own testament – by word and deed – to loving sex
and females. She'd always thought that sex with Bram would be
something almost too delicious to bear.
Now she knew what it was like to have his mouth, and she
doubted she'd ever sleep peacefully again. His kiss alone had been
more sexual than anything she'd experienced in half a decade.

As I sit at my desk with the window right in front of me, watching
the drizzle and gray skies, I'm hoping that you have nicer weather

washout, all of my son's baseball games have been cancelled, and I
haven't been able to take a relaxing walk in forever. They're

But I suppose that'll give me plenty of time to write.

In between travel plans, I've been writing, writing, writing.
Hot and Bothered, a St. Martin's anthology with one of my favorite
novellas ever, will be available this July. I hope you like it!

Sex Appeal, the first Temptation Heat book (replacing the inline
Blazes) is out this month, May.
Thank you to everyone who wrote me about Sex Appeal. I'm thrilled
that you enjoyed the story! And DOUBLE THANKS to all of you who took
the time to write a review of the book for Amazon, B&N, or
eHarlequin. I love reading them, and appreciate it more than I can
say. <G>

I recently updated my personal pages after my trip to Huntsville to
visit Linda Howard. What a wonderful lady she is! Very gracious and
down home and fun (and my favorite author, too!).
I'll be adding more pictures very soon, after my Ashland and Toronto
visits, so check the personal pages again around the end of June.

In the meantime: have fun and happy reading!

Boy people, do I have a story to tell. :-/ Yesterday was the day of
the gremlins, I swear.

First, to everyone who showed up at the scheduled Writerspace chat
last night, I am SO sorry I missed it.
You have my most sincere and humble apologies. I'm sure Janelle
Denison entertained you - she's a Temptation star of the first
order! - but I missed seeing everyone and I was so looking forward to
it. :-(
I even took a nap yesterday afternoon so I'd be wide awake. LOL.

So where was I???
Someone in my neighborhood hit a transformer and we were without power
all afternoon and most of the evening. I couldn't call Cissy (at
Writer's space) to tell her I wouldn't make it because I kept her
phone number in a file... on my computer.
(Good thinkin' there, Foster.)

Losing power when I was supposed to do a chat was only one more snag
in an already frazzled day, though.

If you're ready to give me sympathy, read on. <G>
I woke up yesterday with my left eye swollen shut. Don't know why,
but I do know I have a lot of running around to do today and it still
looks awful <g> so my first trip will be to the doctor.
(I'm writing all this one-eyed!)

Then I sat in my office chair and it broke. I *almost* hit the floor
but managed to catch myself. Thank God I'd already set my hot cup of
coffee down.

Not long after that my keyboard drawer broke, dumping my keyboard and
mouse into my lap. (I'm thinking I hit it when the chair broke. LOL.)

To top it off, there were TWO HUGE INSECTS in my house. First this
gigantic mutant ant that I swear roared. LOL. I've never seen a black
ant so big. Scared my little dog to death and when Mason got a tissue
to grab it and throw it outside, it PINCHED him! I mean, you could
SEE where it pinched him! :::shudder:::: I hate bugs.

Then I found a 1000 legger that walked like the alien, scooting
across my living room. No kidding, this think looked like he'd been
delivered in a space craft. I screamed bloody murder, the kids came
running, and then they all jumped back in awe of the big bugger.

We finally got my drawer fixed and disposed of the killer insects,
but my eye is still swollen and my new chair (which my wonderful
hubby picked up for me) doesn't fit right under my desk and I MISSED
THE BLASTED CHAT!!!!
We went almost all day with no electricity - no light, no microwave,
no stove, no fans (and it hit 80) and no TV. :-/ The only good
part is that I got to read some of Johanna Lindsey's paperback.

I sooo need a break.

Again, my apologies to anyone who was looking for me! I was here,
sitting in the dark, reading with one good eye. <GGG>

Hey everyone! Is your weather as gorgeous as mine! I'm *lovin* it!
Get outside, take a walk, breathe the fresh air...

Okay, enough advice from me. <G>

It's almost May! That means SEX APPEAL is either already available,
or will be very soon. SEX APPEAL is the first Temptation Heat. I'm
hoping you'll enjoy it. If you get a moment, let me know what you
think! You can email me at lorifoster1@...

And if anyone has a few spare minutes tomorrow night, I'm doing a
chat at http://www.writerspace.com/chat with Janelle Denison. Drop in
and keep me company! Because I'm an early bird (old age, you know
<G>) we're starting the chat at 8:00.

Monday the 30th is the final chapter in the eHarlequin online serial
STRANDED (at www.eHarlequin.com). I have had sooo much fun with all
your week-by-week comments on the chapters! I can't wait to see what
you all say this coming Monday. I'm sure the ending will leave you
very satisfied. :::wink:::

May 4th and 5th I'll be in Huntsville Alambama for a readers'
luncheon. I'm really looking forward to it. The thrilling part is, I
get to visit with Linda Howard. :::woo hoo:::
Not to sound like a total groupie, but she IS my favorite author! I
hope to find out all about her current and upcoming projects. <G>

In June I'll be first in Ashland Kentucky and then the next weekend,
in Toronto Canada. You can check my webpage under "Appearance

That's all for now! I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
Keep smiling!

Hello everyone!

We've gotten lots of new people signed up to the newsletter again, so
at the end of this post I'll put some "reminder" info. If you've been
suscribed awhile you don't need to read the ending. <G>

Monday! The 4th chapter of Stranded is now online at
www.eHarlequin.com - I hope you're enjoying it! Feel free to drop me
a line and let me know your thoughts. These days, it's easier if you
use my juno account - lorifoster1@... - because I check it more
often.
There are a couple of discussions about Stranded on the eHq boards so
if you're inclined, join us!

The Bookjunkies loop is alive and filled with fun! If you want a
*busy* (up to 100 posts a day!) chatty loop to visit with other
wonderful readers and ME just sign up for it - LoriFosterBookJunkies
through the same yahoogroups. We discuss all types of books and just
plain have fun.

To everyone who's posted a review online about Annie Get Your Guy,
and Messing Around With Max - THANK YOU! I love seeing comments at
the eHq review site, Amazon and B&N. You're all wonderful.

This month I'll be speaking in Indianapolis, so if you're in the area
check out my "Appearance" schedule for an exact address, then drop in
and say hi! I'm going to bring some copies of Sex Appeal - a May
release - to give away.

Anyone who is a bookseller or knows a bookseller who might be
interested in receiving advance promotion information, please let me
know. I'm going to be doing some special things for my Berkley single
title, WILD, out in Jan. I really appreciate any and all help!

That's all for now! Happy spring to everyone. Stay warm and healthy
and remember to smile lots. <grin>

Lori
www.lorifoster.com

For new folks!
Here're some updates for questions I often get:

Zane Winston will have his own single title book through Berkley in
Jan 2002, called WILD. Right before that, in Dec 2001 will be a
special anthology reissue of Cole, Chase and Mack combined called THE
WINSTONS.

Also in 2002, watch for Casey's story, from the Buckhorn brothers.
CASEY will be a Harlequin single title out in Sept 2002.
The 4 Buckhorn Brothers, Sawyer, Morgan, Gabe and Jordan will be
reissued in special trade size, but I don't yet know for certain if
there will be 2 brothers each in 2 separate books, or if they'll all
4 be packaged together. If there's one, it should be Oct, if there's
two, then Oct and Nov.

For everyone who has asked, Annie Get Your Guy & Messing Around With
Max are characters from a previous Silhouette Desire novel #1200
called LITTLE MISS INNOCENT? which featured their brother Daniel and
Lace McGee as the hero and heroine. It's out of print now, but there
are two online booksellers listed on my webpage and they can usually
locate a copy. And for further reference, the characters from those
books are mentioned as the heroine's friends in SEX APPEAL, the
Temptation Heat Launch book out in May.

And lastly, the release date for Hot and Bothered, a St. Martins
anthology containing my *favorite* novella, Luring Lucy, has changed
from August to... ta da... July 3rd!!!

That's all! Happy reading.

Hello everyone! :::waving::: to all new members, and boy, there've
been a bunch of you this month. Thanks for joining us!

Monday is the day! The Harlequin Duets - Annie Get Your Guy &
Messing Around With Max both hit the stands! I hope you enjoy them,
and if you find the time, please let me know what you think!

If you want to comment on the book, eHarlequin has a nice spot for
that and I admit, I love reading reading your reviews. Right now
there are none up for the Duets :::sniff sniff::: but I'm hoping
that's because it's early days yet. You can post a review by
following the eHarlequin links to the books for that month, click on
my book, then on reviews. And thanks in advance!

Also, my eHarlequin online serial, Stranded, starts Monday at the
www.eHarlequin.com website. The website has a new face and in my
opinion is much, much easier to navigate! Stranded will run an online
chapter a week for 8 weeks. Again, I hope you like it and I'd love to
hear what you think. If you want to join in, the story will be
discussed on one of the eHq bulletin boards!

Any of you who get RT, check out the April issue for a fun note about
my November book and a very wonderful firefighter who gave me a
helping hand with research. Kudos to RT for picking up this story,
and kudos to the firefighters for their benefit work. What a great
bunch of people! (and very inspiring! <g>)Come November, when my
firefighter book will be out, I'll be helping to sell their benefit
calendar - and awarding some prizes to folks who order one! Watch for
the upcoming contest!

For those of you who didn't know, Romantic Times nominated me for two
awards - one for Gabe (from the Buckhorn Brothers) for best
Temptation, and another for career achievement in Series Fantasy
Romance. Now, there are some stellar writers in the running with me,
so winning would be a long shot, but being nominated is very cool and
I'm happy about it.

My website was recently updated with new reviews and excerpts and
info on nominations and such, so you may want to check it out. Also
my "speaking" calendar has been updated. Hey, if I get to your area
come and say "hi!" I'd love to meet you. And while you're at the
website, I'd love for you to sign my guestbook. :-)

Happy reading to everyone! Stay healthy, and I hope you're enjoying
some spring type weather.

Hello everyone! I've had quite a few new people join lately, so I
thought it'd be appropriate to send out a quick newsletter. Welcome
to all new people!

Some fun news to share - GABE, the 3rd book in my Buckhorn Brothers
Temptation mini series - has been nominated for a Romantic Times
Reviewers Choice award. Since GABE was my personal favorite, I'm
tickled by the nomination.

And more astounding than that, I've also been nominated for a Career
Achievement award in Romantic Series Fantasy from Romantic Times.
Well, that nearly blew my socks off! <g>

JORDAN, the 4th Buckhorn Brothers book, won "Best 2000 Book" for
Contemporary Series Romance from Romance Reviews Today. Is that
awesome or what? <ggg>

Both ANNIE GET YOUR GUY and MESSING AROUND WITH MAX, my double Duets
stories, got 4 stars from RT. Those books, packaged as one Duets,
will be available around the second week of March. I hope you all
enjoy it! Do let me know.

Also starting March 12th, I'll have a new eHarlequin online serial -
STRANDED. I hope you enjoy it! You can find the story at
www.eHarlequin.com

And my webpage has been updated with *all* this info, so check back
there if you need more details.

In the meantime I'm having a total blast working on a new 3 book
series. The first book is a single title through Harlequin due out
Sept, called CAUGHT IN THE ACT and features Mick Dawson from
Beguiled. Mick is an undercover cop. I finished that book and now I'm
working on the second book, TREAT HER RIGHT, an Oct Temptation, about
an EMT Paramedic, and last in November, MR. NOVEMBER, a Temptation
about a firefighter who gets coerced into posing for a benefit
calendar.
The fun part about MR. NOVEMBER is that I've been in contact with a
real live firefighter who has done this very thing! In fact, he
organized the calendar and it's made a LOT of money for some really
worthwhile causes. If you want to check out the calendar, and read
about this real-life hero, go to:
http://www.firefighterscalendar.com/

I'm told Harlequin is going to let me choose one of the hunky guys
from the calendar to use on my cover for the November book. Way fun!
I hope you'll keep the organization in mind come August, when the new
2002 calendar will be available. I'll be running some different
contests and things then too!

That's all for now. I'm busy busy busy writing, but loving the
stories and the characters so it's a good kind of busy.

As soon as I finish this series I need to get started on two single
title erotic novels through Kensington, and then, of course, Casey
Hudson's story. Throw into the mix another anthology or two... and
well, I'm busy! :::laughing:::

I wish you all a wonderful spring, and lots of happy reading!

(ps. my crocuses bloomed yesterday! Yay!)

Take care,

Lori

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday. I hope life is treating you well and
you're wearing lots of smiles.

Here's something fun to do that might give you a tickle. AAR (All
About Romance) is running a cover contest and guess who's in the line-
up for WORST cover? Ah c'mon. You remember Sawyer, right? Yep, there
he is! <laughing> Personally, I'd love to see him win for worst
cover, so if you're in a voting mood, and if you disliked his poor
mug shot as much as I did, go vote! The website addy is:
http://www.likesbooks.com/covers2000intro.html

While you're there, why not vote on the other covers as well? I was
amazed to see how beautiful some of them are! I think I might enter
my single title, Caught in the Act, for the best single title cover
next year. It really is beautiful.

Okay, that's all for today! Happy reading, and hugs to everyone!

Hello everyone! I trust you all are well and happy. A quick reminder -
the group has changed yet again from egroups to yahoogroups. I just
wanted you to be aware of it.

It's been a short while since I wrote last so I though to update you
on a few things.
First, my webpage now has a "speaking and appearance" schedule. Since
this is a very busy year for me and I'm going to be somplace almost
every month, I may end up in your area and you know I'd love to meet
you! Check it out, okay? If I land in your neck of the woods, come
see me and say "hi!"

Also, starting Feb 12th and running through the 16th, I'll be at the
eHq - http://www.eHarlequin.com -- boards discussing how to write a
stellar love scene. If you get a chance and you're curious, drop in!
eHq.com is offering lots and lots of Valentine's Day related events
and advice and information, so I know you'll enjoy it.

I've also done a lot of quick-spot interviews in the past week, so
perhaps I'll be mentioned in a paper from your area. Check out the
Indianpolis Star, The Fort Worth Star, The Sun Sentinel, The Arizona
Republic, The Grand Rapids Press, The New York Times, WCCO radio and
KKRQ radio. Sorry but I'm not sure what dates the interviews will
appear -- but they're for Valentine's Day so likely that week.

Lastly, if you're interested in chatting more, an online friend has
started a LoriFosterbookjunkies list and wowza, is it active! But
we'll always welcome more people, so if you have the time or
inclination, check it out through yahoogroups.

My very best to all of you!

Hello everyone,

Saturday, my little Chichuahua, Brock, drew a winner from the many
entries I had in my Holiday Contest. I put all the envelopes in the
middle of the floor and predictably enough, the pup jumped on them.
The first one he pulled out of the pile to demolish was...
ta da

::::can you hear the drum roll?::::::

Chris Roberts!

Big contratulations to Chris.

Chris wins all four of the brother books from my Buckhorn Brothers
series, plus autographed copies of Married to the Boss, Scandalized
and All I Want for Christmas. She'll also get a cute holiday ornament
and a special surprise gift.

Thank you to everyone who entered, and especially to those who put
personal notes inside. I loved reading your thoughts, and appreciate
all the kind words!

My webmistress is currently on vacation, so I probably won't be able
to post Chris Robert's name as the winner to the contest on my
webpage until Jan 3rd, when my webmistress returns.
Then Chris will get the acknowledgement due her. <grin> But I wanted
everyone to know that a winner has been chosen.

Happy Holidays to one and all!
Stay warm, healthy and keep all your loved ones safe.

Hi everyone!

I hope your December is going well. Time is just flying by, isn't it? I
can't believe winter has hit so soon, and with such a vengeance! It's in
the teens here. Brrrr....

Okay, some fun stuff. In the past, many of you have asked me if the
Winston brothers novellas - Cole Winston in Tangled Sheets in the Hot
Chocolate anthology; Chase Winston in Tangled Dreams in the Charmed
anthology; and Mack Winston in Tangled Images in the Sinful anthology --
could be packaged together.

Wednesday I got some fun news that I think you'll all enjoy!

For those of you unfamiliar with the Winstons:

My first novella for Berkley included a "Winston brother," Cole Winston -
the oldest - who I set up with 3 other brothers. They're guys who own a
bar and lost their parents young and Cole sort of raised the others.
Berkley ended up buying the brothers one by one until 3 of them had
appeared in anthologies.
The last brother, Zane, is scheduled to be a single title.

Well, my editor read the Zane single title over the weekend and Wednesday
she called to say they were going to reissue the three Wintson brothers
novellas, Cole, Chase and Mack, in a special anthology that'll be out the
month before the Zane. <YAY>
Needless to say I'm thrilled!
The title of the anthology is THE WINSTONS (natch) and will be on stands
Dec 01, and Zane's single title, offically called WILD, will be out Jan
02.

I had a bit of a scare at first, because the original release dates she
came up with were Oct and Nov 01, which were wonderful, but would have
caused a major traffic jam in my release schedule! I'd have had 3 books
in Oct (a Temptation, a Kensington anthology, and the Winston anthology)
and 2 in Nov (a Temptation, and the Zane single title), and that'd be
following books in Aug and Sept. :-/
I couldn't see readers buying 7 books from me in that short of a time,
esp right before Christmas. LOL.

So now I'm more evenly spaced -- sort of. I have 2 books in March, 1 in
May with an eHq online serial inbetween them, then 1 in Aug, 1 in Sept
(hq single title), 2 in Oct, 1 in Nov, 1 in Dec, and 1 in Jan 02 (Berkley
single title).

I hope you all aren't getting sick of me! I know that's a lot of
releases, but I promise in 2002 I'm going to cut back. I'm saying 6 books
at the most. Right now I have 3 scheduled, Zane's book - WILD - in Jan,
then I'm clear until Sept with Casey's book (from the Buckhorn Brothers)
and then in Oct the Buckhorn Brothers reissues.

Thanks everyone. I hope your holidays are going well! Stay healthy,
happy, and warm!

Lori

Hello everyone! Just a quick note to alert you to a Holiday contest running on
my page. It's super simple to enter, and everyone gets a color bookmark or two.
The winner, chosen by random drawing Dec 16th, will receive autographed copies
of my 4 book Buckhorn Brother series, my October Married to the Boss continuity
book, and both of my November releases, Scandalized and All I Want For
Christmas. There will also be an ornament and a surprise gift (something small
and cute. <G>)
Check out my web page for details! http://www.lorifoster.com

You'll notice too, that I've changed my links on my webpage. Amazon's new policy
of the "used book button" on a new book's page is an outrage. I have nothing
against the buying and selling of used books, but they shouldn't, in my opinion,
be offered as an alternative to a new book on the first day the book is
released. So my links will now take you to B&N. I hope this doesn't cause any
confusion. Thank you for understanding!

All my best,

I recently updated my personal pages at my webpage: www.lorifoster.com
You can find the "personal pages" link right above my bio, toward the

I've also put up an excerpt for Sex Appeal, which will be a

Best of all, my cover for my upcoming Duets is displayed, and I
really like it. It's... whimsical. <G> I hope you'll like it too!
There are a few other additions, so go take a peek and if you have
the time, let me know what you think.

Hey everyone,

Wow, I totally missed October, didn't I? Sorry about that, but it has
been an extremely hectic 8 weeks -- in a fun way. I had out of town
visitors (readers and we had a blast visiting!), my editor came to town
and spent some time with me (she's always a hoot to have in the house!),
I had workshops to present for Writer's Digest and a speaking engagement
in West Virginia, not to mention tons of deadlines (literally!) and kids
in sports. November, by comparison, looks pretty calm. Thank goodness!

I still have several deadlines. Right now I'm working on Mick Dawson's
story, and boy is Mick a hottie! I love writing him. In case you don't
remember, he's a character from Beguiled, all grown up now and working as
an undercover cop. But what he uncovers is Del Piper, a mystery writer
and a woman sure to tie him in more knots than a 3 year old's shoe lace!
Fun stuff. That book won't be out until September, but my deadline for it
is December 1st -- we work well in advance! This is a book I've wanted to
write forever, but other contracts kept getting in my way. Now I'm
finally digging deep into it and I love it. As I write, I'm hoping you
will love it too.

I also just got a new contract from Kensington to write an erotic
novella, ala Captivated or Fascinated.
Now, before you raise your brows, I asked the senior editor there if I
needed to turn up the heat and she said no, that she thought what I
already wrote worked very well. Good thing, because I pretty much write
what I love writing, and while a little more freedom would be nice,
(category is especially restrictive) I'm not interested in changing my
style too much. So what this means is that the novella will be a little
more explicit with setting and plot, the wording will be a bit more
steamy, and there'll be a few more sex scenes -- but not too much so.
<grin>
That book won't be out until October 01. But I am looking forward to
writing it!

Now, my dreaded task! Still no news on Casey. I'm sorry!
Special projects take a lot of time to get organized. There are more
people involved and the schedule is trickier. I'm hoping to hear
something concrete by the end of this month, and I will definitely let
everyone know as soon as I know. We can all keep our fingers crossed,
right? <grin>

Since I didn't post in October, I should remind you now that I had book 3
of the Maitland Maternity series. I got mixed reviews on that book. Some
loved it and claimed it was my best, some didn't like it at all. I'd be
interested in hearing what you think. It spent 3 weeks (so far) on the
Walden's bestseller list, so that's good news!

Now, for November, we have a very sexy older guy/ younger woman novella
in the St. Martin's anthology ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS. This is, in my
opinion, one of my hottest stories. There's also a reissue of one of my
most popular Temptations ever, SCANDALIZED. Do let me know what you think
about them both!

Lastly, I just got my cover for my March double Duets, ANNIE GET YOUR GUY
and MESSING AROUND WITH MAX. It's pretty neat. For once, Harlequin didn't
give me ugly people on the cover! <grin> It's sort of a comedy look, and
you can check it out in the files section of my egroups.com page.

Just to keep you updated, and because several of you have asked, here's a
booklist for upcoming books:

Oct - Married to the Boss -- Maitland Maternity continuity series, book
#3, Harlequin
Nov - All I Want For Christmas -- St. Martin's anthology
Nov - Scandalized -- Harlequin Intimacies (reissue)
March - Annie Get Your Guy, Messing Around with Max -- Harlequin Double
Duets
May - Sex Appeal -- Harlequin Temptation Heat
Aug - Hot and Bothered -- St. Martin's anthology
Sept - Caught in the Act -- Harlequin Single Title
Oct - Untitled Harlequin Temptation
Oct - All Through the Night -- Kensington anthology
Nov - Untitled Harlequin Temptation
Jan - Zane Winston's book, untitled -- Berkley single title

I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful and colorful fall weather. Keep
warm, safe, happy and healthy. I have new autographed color bookmarks for
anyone who wants them! Just send me a #10 (business size, long envelope)
Self Addressed, Stamped envelope, to Lori Foster, P.O. Box 854, Ross OH

Hi everyone!
I *finally* updated my personal pages. One IMPORTANT NOTE! When I first
uploaded the files, I had a glitch and some of them turned out funny. If
you get a funny looking page -- double photos, things out of place,
distorted images, etc... just hold down your control key and reload and
the new page will come in correctly. Sorry for the bother but glitches
happen. :-/

It took me a while to get the update done because I'm busy working on so
many projects. I have an older, once rejected Temptation that I'm giving
a good tweaking to for a May slot in the Temptation calendar. So if
you're a writer working toward publication *and* racking up rejections as
I did, hang on to those manuscripts! You never know when a publisher
might want one of them. <G>

And I have looming deadlines for two books: the Zane Winston single title
-- which is coming right along and is so sexy and fun. (Hint, I'm
introducing a new Winston, and boy, are readers gonna love this guy!).
Plus I have to get to the Harlequin single title on Mick Dawson (from
Beguiled.) Mick is one of my most favorite characters and writing him as
an adult who gets overwhelmed with an eccentric writer is a blast.

I've also got my monthly articles that I do, bi monthly for the RWR. And
the RWR requested I do a special feature article on the new eHarlequin
site and the producer, Malle Vallik. There's so much going on at
eHarlequin, things are changing every day. I hope this article will help
clarify things for readers.

Add to all that confusion a vacation with the family which came the day
after I returned from D.C. for the National conference (we went to Cedar
Point, Hocking Hills, and then to see the outdoor drama Tecumseh),
preparing for school, a new puppy -- you're gonna love my baby, Brock! --
and general chaos, and it's no wonder it's taken me so long to update.
<G>
But I finally did and I hope you'll enjoy the changes to my personal
pages.

There are new photos of authors, editors and friends taken at the RWA
D.C. conference. I want you to especially notice the awesome award
winners! Leslie Kelly and Janelle Denison both won the Reader's Choice
award for different categories. Isn't that wonderful! And Patricia Ryan
won the Rita -- which was so very much deserved! I'm especially pleased
to have photos of them on the site.
There are also a scattering of new photos of my family, Brock my adorable
new puppy, which was a gift from my oldest son, our most recent
vacations, etc...

The Buckhorn brothers are about to an end -- more on that in a moment.
But now I have three books coming up, one in October - Married to the
Boss, a Harlequin continuity; All I Want For Christmas, a St. Martin's
anthology; and Scandalized, a reissued early Temptation. I put up covers
and excerpts for them.

The Buckhorns... well, I hate to see them end. In fact, I'm hoping they
won't. The books have done phenomenally well -- thank you, readers!
They've been Waldenbook bestsellers, and bestsellers at the eHarlequin
site. Whenever I check the numbers at Amazon, I see that they're doing
great.
The 4th book of the series, Jordan, ended with a cliffhanger for the son,
Casey. I have to explain that when I put that in there, I thought I'd
have more news on when Casey's story would be out. Well, I don't. :-(
I'm working on getting it nailed down because soooo many of you have
written to me, wanting to know when to expect his book. I promise as soon
as I know something I'll send another newsletter. When I realized that
his book wasn't yet scheduled, I wanted to take out the cliffhanger so
readers wouldn't tar and feather me, but the editors made me leave it in,
so please -- not my fault! <G>
As well as wanting to do Casey's story, I'd also like to do the women of
Buckhorn. Those poor gals! The Buckhorn brothers all married out of town
visitors. How fair is that!? So I'd like to do something special for
them, especially for Celia, who knew all the brothers and was a good
friend to them all. It'd take a really special guy to blow her socks off
after growing up with the Buckhorn men. <G>

That's it for now. Let me know what you think of the updates. And if you
write and don't hear back right away, please forgive me. I'm buried in
deadlines, and I want to make Zane Winston's book as good as I can for
you!

Have a safe, happy, Sept, filled with love!

My best,

Lori

Hey everyone.
Happy Sunday, happy summer, and happy reading!

I know, I know. I was supposed to draw names for the contest wins on the
15th. But I have a bad head cold and didn't get around to, so I did the
deed today instead. <G>

First let me thank *everyone* for the wonderful response. Wow, I was
floored by all the compliments and incredible remarks on my heroes.
Because I always love the guys so much, it thrills me that you like them
too. Thank you!!!!

And now the winners! My son, Mason, drew the names for me.

Raelene Gorlinsky wins a 4 book set of the Buckhorn Brothers --
congratulations, Raelene! I hope you enjoy the brothers. <G>.

And the five winners of a single book are:

Chris Roberts,
Linda A. Lee,
Kari Thomas,
Genevieve Grabe
and Jean Eichenseer!

Ladies, let me know which Brother book you'd like to have. If you want
Jordan, you'll have to wait just a tad more until I get my author copies.
Any of the other brothers can be mailed right away.

Additional news -- tomorrow is chapter 7 of my online serial, Marrying
Mary. You can find it www.eHarlequin.com and yes, the earlier chapters
will remain right up the end of the book.
If you've been reading along each week and waiting for the steam,
tomorrow is it!
I had to whittle that chapter, and whittle, and whittle... but what is
left is still pretty sexy *I* think. Now I'd like to know what *you*
think! I know Mary and Reed and fed up with waiting, so happy Monday!

And what about those RT boards! Whew. An open discussion on the Blaze
books. Fun -- most of it anyway. <G> If you haven't taken a peek yet, do!
Go to www.romantictimes.com and click on the "Blaze Controversy" link to
the right. There have been some heated debates, some downright silly
accusations, and a lot of chit chat. I've enjoyed it.

Lastly, the news I hinted at in the last newsletter:
I've sold Zane Winston to Berkley as a single title. Yay!!! <G>
Some of you may have already heard the news, but I wanted to share on
here just in case. Zane Winston will have a full length novel, rather
than a novella as his brothers had. It won't be released until January
2002, which I know seems like a long way off, but hey, I still have to
write it! Which is actually what I'm working on right now -- or rather,
what I should be working on, instead of bumming around with this cold.
:-)

If anyone is going to National conference in D.C. be sure to say "hi."
And the rest of you, stay healthy, happy and safe. Have a wonderful week!

Hey everyone!

I hope you caught and enjoyed chapter two of my Harlequin online serial,
Marrying Mary. Chapter three will be up on Monday. You can read all the
chapters at www.eHarlequin.com
Just click on the online serial link.

I have fun news that I'm going to be sharing with everyone on this list
in about a week. So stay tuned! Folks on the list will get to hear it
first, just because to me, you're all very special! <g> I think you'll be
pleased. (Now ain't I a tease? But I can't say what the news is yet. Be
patient. You'll hear in about a week!)

Lastly, I'm running a giveaway. (You all know how I love to give away
books.)
Send me an SASE (self addressed #10 stamped envelope) and from all those
I receive I'll draw 5 people to get a free copy of a Buckhorn Brothers
book. You can chose any brother you want, Sawyer, Morgan, Gabe, Jordan --
and as soon as I receive my author copies (I already have Sawyer and
Morgan and Gabe should be here soon) you'll get a copy. Fliers and
bookmarks will be returned to *every* SASE.

An added bonus: Anyone who wants to take the time to tell me which of my
male characters has been her favorite and why, will be eligible to win a
whole set of the Buckhorn Brothers. I'll put the SASEs into separate
drawings and pick names on July 15th. So get your SASEs in the mail!

And thanks for all the wonderful letters. I've gotten snail mail from
quite a few of you lately and I can't tell you how much I appreciate
that. Harlequin really looks at letters as a sign of an author's success,
so you've all been instrumental in making me look good. <G> I appreciate
it!

My best to everyone, and happy reading!

Hi all!

Just a very quick, hopefully not too imposing note to tell you that I've
posted two new covers at my personal web site.
http://members.aol.com/LoFoster/page5.html (that's the What's New page
<G>)
You'll find the pretty pink lace layout for Married To The Boss, my part
(book 3) of the Harlequin Continuity Maitland Maternity series starting
soon.
And a very gorgeous (at least I think so!) cover for a Christmas
Anthology, All I Want For Christmas, from St. Martins, due out in
November. Early days yet, I know, but I wanted to share. <G>

Hope you like them!

Hi everyone! I hope your Spring is going well and that you're having nice
weather. It was raining this morning, but now the sun is shining and it
promises to be a beautiful day!

My newsletter today is just to offer you a quick preview peek at my most
embarrassing cover. Sawyer, the first of my 4 brother series coming out
in June, (the guy I had "bagged" for awhile there) is pretty
disappointing. But I know I can't hide him forever. He'll be on shelves
soon. And so the cover will be going live on my business page any day
now, but before it does I thought I'd let everyone on this loop get a
gander at him first -- just to get the first round of hilarity over with.
<G> You can find poor Sawyer, as well as Morgan (July) and Gabe (Aug)
at:
http://hometown.aol.com/LoFoster/page14.html

Let me know what you think, okay? If you think I should put the bag on
his head, tell me!
You can email me at LoriFoster1@... or lorifoster@...

As to the other covers, Morgan is okay, in my opinion. Not quite what I'd
envisioned, and he looks a lot like The Shoveler from Mystery Men, but
he's a nice clean cover. And Gabe is even kind of cute.
I'm still waiting to see what happens with Jordan. (Keep your fingers
crossed for me!)

I also have a spot of fun news. My 3rd book, written way back in 97, is
going to be reissued this November in a special series called Harlequin
Intimacies. So anyone who missed Scandalized the first time around (and
it's now out of print) can get it then. From what I can tell of the
cover, it looks pretty neat. But I've only seen it in a Publisher's
Weekly ad. <G>

For those of you who didn't make it to the Celebrate Romance conference
in Seattle, it was loads of fun! Do try to come next year.
And I hope some of you will be at the National conference in Washington.
If you are, look me up and say hi!

I won't keep you any longer. Have a great weekend, and happy reading!!!

Hey everyone! I know, I know. this was promised a week ago, but I got
very much behind on everything. Life happens. <G> In the middle of
searching for a new agent, I got two offers from Harlequin that demanded
my attention and distracted me terribly. (I'm terribly easy to distract!
<g>)
I also had to do a presentation at a chapter meeting -- but that was fun.
Still, it required some preparation.

I have a book due in April, then one due in May (and I won't even tell
you what's due after that!). These will be the sequels to Little Miss
Innocent?, my one and only Silhouette Desire book.

** quick note, Little Miss Innocent? is presently #2 at the Amazon best
selling Desires list. Fun, huh?**

The two stories will be combined into one Duets book, and will be
released (unless something changes) February 2001. The first story will
be about Annie Sawyer, and the second will be about Max Sawyer, siblings
to the hero in Little Miss Innocent?. So far I'm having a blast with
them, so I hope you will too!

Right now I have a line edit to go through. That's on my 3rd brother book
in my 4 brother mini series which'll start in June. I also have galleys
for the 2nd brother to read.

In the midst of all that I also turned in an article for Writers Digest
(due out in October) and I'm doing an editor inteview with Birgit
Davis-Todd on the Duets and the Big Blaze line. The interviews will be in
PaintedRock, www.paintedrock.com and eventually in the RWR, which is the
Romance Writer's Report. Busy busy busy.

Anyway, enough of my excuses!

I thought for this first newsletter I'd offer up an excerpt from SAWYER,
which is the first of the 4 brother books. I'm so so so hopeful you'll
all like these stories. They're written from the heart and I'm madly in
love with each brother. I think they're some of the sexiest guys I've
ever written. If you liked the Winstons, then I just know you'll like
these gusy.
I enjoyed writing this series more than anything else I've ever written,
if that tells you anything. Do let me know what you think!

	 SAWYER, the Doctor
	 Buckhorn Brothers, book 1
	 June 2000

This is actually a few pages into the story. As a quick set-up -- the
heroine wrecked her car right into the brother's lake. They've fished her
out, discovered that she has a concussion and is sick, yet she won't even
give them her name or any other info, because it isn't "safe." Someone is
after her, and she refuses to drag anyone else into her mess -- or to
trust anyone else. Including the brothers.
Being the enormous, honorable, overprotective louts that they are, the
brothers don't take well to having their help refused. Especially given
that she seems to think *she* has to protect *them*.
From there, the sparks really fly! <G>

**************************************************************

Here's the excerpt:

It had taken her less than two minutes to fall deeply asleep, and
since then, he'd been
checking her every few minutes, drawn by the sight of her cuddled so
naturally, so
trustingly in his bed. He leaned in the doorframe, watching her sleep,
enthralled by the way
the gentle lantern light played over the curves and hollows of her body.
      "She doin' okay?"
Sawyer quickly pulled the door shut as he turned to face Jordan.
"She's asleep, and her
breathing sounds just a little easier. But she's still really sick. I
think she
needs rest more than anything else. She's plain wore out."
"If you want, we can all spell you a turn on waking her up through
the night."
      "No."
Jordan's eyes narrowed. "Sawyer, it's dumb for you to do it alone.
We could --"
"I'm the doctor, Jordan, so I'll do it." He was determined to get
his brother's mind off
altruistic motives, and away from the room. "The rest of you don't need
to worry. It's
under control."
Jordan studied him a long minute before finally shrugging. "Suit
yourself. But I swear,
you're acting damn strange.”
Sawyer didn't refute that. His behavior did seem odd, considering
his brother didn't
know why he was so insistent. But when Jordan walked away, Sawyer again
opened the
door where she slept. Nope, he didn't want his brothers seeing her like
this.
The little lady slept on her stomach and she kept kicking her covers
off; the jersey had
ridden to her waist.
Damn but she had a nice backside. Soft, white, perfectly rounded.
The kind of backside
that would fit a man's hands just right. His palms tingled at the
thought,
and his fingers flexed the tiniest bit.
With a small appreciative smile, Sawyer once again covered her. At
least her fever
must be lower, or she'd still be chilled deep inside. The fact she felt
comfortable enough
not to need the quilt proved the medicine was doing its job. Still, he
touched her forehead,
smoothed her hair away, then forced himself to leave the room.
When he walked out this time he ran into Morgan.
      "We need to talk."
Sawyer eyed his brother's dark countenance. He'd have been worried,
except Morgan
pretty much always looked that way. "If you're going to offer your help,
don't bother. I'm
more than able to -- "
"Nope. I figure if you want to hover all night over the little
darling, that's your
business. But I want to show you something."
For the first time, Sawyer noticed Morgan was gripping a woman's
purse in his fist.
"Our guest's?"
"Yep. I decided I didn't like all this secretive business, and being
she's staying here, I
was fully justified -- "
      "You snooped, didn't you?"
Morgan tried to look affronted and failed. "Just took a peek at her
wallet for I.D. I'm a
sheriff, and I had just cause with all this talk of danger and such."
"And?" Sawyer had to admit to his own overwhelming curiosity. He
wondered if the
name would match the woman. "Don't keep me in suspense."
"You won't believe this, but it's Honey Malone." Morgan chuckled.
"Damn, she sounds
just like a female mobster, doesn't she?"
It took Sawyer two seconds before he burst out laughing. Honey. No
wonder she
thought he knew her name, given the way he and his brothers used
endearments. He was still grinning when Morgan poked him.
      "It's not that funny."
"Ah, but it is! Especially when you know the joke."
"But you're not going to share it?"
Sawyer shook his head. "Nope. At least not until I've shared it with
Miss Malone."
Since he had the arrogant habit of refusing to ever let anyone rile
him, Morgan merely
shrugged. "Suit yourself. But you should also know I braved this hellish
rain to run out to
the car radio and run a check on her. Nothing, from either side of the
law. No priors, no
complaints, no signed statements. If someone is trying to hurt her, the
police don't know a
damn thing about it."
Sawyer worked that thought over in his mind, then shook his head.
"That could mean
several things."
"Yeah, like she's making it all up." Morgan hesitated, but as he
turned to walk away, he
added, "Or she's more rattled than you first thought and is delusional.
But either way,
Sawyer, be on your guard, okay?"
      "I'm not an idiot."
"No." Morgan pointed at him and chuckled. "But you are acting like a
man out to stake
a claim. Don't let your gonads overrule your common sense."
Sawyer glared, but Morgan hadn't waited around to see it.
Ridiculous. So he was
attracted to her, so what? He was human and he'd been attracted to plenty
of women in his
day. Not quite this attracted, not quite this... consumed. But it didn't
matter. He had no
intentions of getting involved any more than necessary to get her well.
She was a patient,
and he'd treat her as such. Period.
But even as he thought it, he opened the door again, drawn by some
inexplicable need
to be near her.
Damn but she looked sweet resting there in his bed. Incredibly sweet
and vulnerable.
And once again, she'd kicked the quilt away.
