Description
This group is for discussion, information dissemination and interaction between the fans of poet, sonneteer and writer Lord Alfred 'Bosie' Douglas.
Lord Alfred, or 'Bosie' as he was known to his family and friends, is probably best known for his intimaten relationship with Oscar Wilde. However, Bosie was a skilled poet in his own right - unfortunately, his works were largely unrecognized throughout the last half of the 20th century.
Born in 1870, he attended Magdelen College, Oxford, married the former Lady Olive Eleanor Custance, and had one son, Raymond. He edited such periodicals as The Chamelion, The Academy, and Plain English; and spent time in prison on a criminal libel charge.
As an author, he published more than a dozen volumes of sonnets, poetry, and autobiography during his lifetime. Lord Alfred Douglas died in 1945 at the age of 74.
